Human brain is perhaps one of the most complicated creations of God. As wonderful your brain is as hard it is to control its thought process.
Many people daily spend hours thinking about something that happened in the past or worrying about what's going to happen in future.
Most of the times these thoughts aren't pleasant especially if you are overthinking.
Remembering unpleasant past events not only dampens the mood but also throws one into the trap of guilt which ultimately leads to anxiety. The more the pit of guilt grows, the harder it becomes to let go of the past feelings. You can spend hours thinking about what you could have done better or how things could have been different but it's not going to change your past. Letting go of unpleasant past feelings can be hard but they should not affect your present.
You need to stop thinking about the past.
You did what you thought was the best.
You did what seemed right at that moment.
You did what you could have done.
And then there is the fear of future.
The fear of things that haven't even happened yet. It's very similar to fearing about imaginary scenarios your brain comes up with. The truth is that neither are you living in your past nor are you in your future - It has always been the present.
The moment that you are in right now is - now.
Not tomorrow, not yesterday but today.
You will always be in the present, no matter how much time you spend thinking about past or future - It's always going to be this moment - The Present.
Say this out loud to yourself -
"Where are you? Here
What time is it? Now
What are you? This moment."
- Dan Millman
Things happen when they are meant to be. If it's not the right time then it's not the right time.
It's not possible for the human mind to comprehend the grand scheme of universe. You will never know what lies ahead and why certain things happened. But everything happens for a purpose and we all discover that purpose sooner or later.
Overthinking will only kill your valuable time.
If you look back at your past, you will realize that it has some really beautiful memories despite all the tough times that you have had.You have come a long way and still have a long way to go.
And talking about the future, I love this quote by Dev Patel in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" -
"Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, it is not yet the end."Remember that God is bigger than any problem you are having right now so just keep faith and don't stop doing things that take you closer to your dreams.
