Café

After she made the dress for her date that night, she decided to go to a little café for lunch.

She grabbed her sketchbook and left, telling her parents that she was going out for lunch. As she made her way down the street, Marinette felt eyes on her, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. When she turned and nobody was looking, she decided to loop around the block, and if they were still watching her, well, she would cross that bridge if she came to it.

She walked around a cluster of buildings, staying on the populated streets and trying not to look behind her.

She was back at where she had first felt the stare of the mysterious person. She had felt their eyes following her the entire time and that made her uneasy.

Someone was stalking her.

She decided to set a trap for them. She jogged into an alley and hid behind some garbage cans, hoping the person would follow her. She knew a fair bit of taekwondo so she was ready to jump out and pin them down to interrogate them.

She heard footsteps echo through the alley and peered around the large plastic containers. When she didn't see anything, she panicked and looked behind her.

"Come out," she said loudly, her voice quivering. "I know you're there."

She heard a noise from behind her and whirled around to see- "Chat? What are you doing here? Why are you following me?" she demanded, hugging her sketchbook to her chest.

"I'm sorry, M'lady, I didn't mean to scare you," he took her hand and bent to kiss it.

"You still haven't answered my question," she pulled her hand away.

He sighed, "Alright. I've been watching you for weeks, ever since I got my miraculous, waiting for a reason to talk to you. This morning happened to be my chance," he looked down.

"What? Why were you stalking me?"

"I wouldn't call it stalking."

She looked at him pointedly.

"Fine, I was stalking you."

"You still haven't told me why, though."

"Well, at first I thought you were pretty, but after a few days, I realized you were so much more than that. You're funny, kind, creative, strong, understanding, spunky. . . Everything I've ever wanted in a potential mate." he looked down.

"You like me?" she gaped at him. "I'm clumsy and shy and nothing like the girl you just described."

"No, your flaws only make me want you more. I wouldn't even call them flaws, just personality traits."

"You're wrong. You don't even know me," she said sadly as she turned away.

"Then let me get to know you," he grabbed her wrist, his eyes pleaded with her.

She thought for a moment before sighing, "Alright, let's start now. I was going to a cafe for lunch. Would you like to join me?"

"Yes!" he hugged her tightly. "Thank you, Marinette!"

"Marinette?"

He leaped back and his face fell, "Oh, was I not supposed to call you that?"

"No!" she cleared her throat. "I mean, no. It's just that I. . . I don't think you've called me by my real name yet. It's always Princess or M'lady."

He grinned at her, "Purrincess."

"Right. Purrincess. . ."

"Yes! See, you're getting it!"

She facepalmed and sighed, "Let's just go."

"Yes, ma'am!"

She walked out of the alley and down the road to the cafe. When they got there, she gave Chat her sketchbook telling him to find a table, and ordered. She brought their food over and sat down with Chat, who was flipping through her sketchbook.

"These are really good, Purrincess! You should enter one in a contest."

"Th-they're just sketches, nothing special." She blushed and looked down.

"No, they are special. I should know, my father is a designer too, and a famous one at that." He tilted her chin up. "I'd love to model them for you if you decide to enter them."

"And what if I already have a male model?"

"Then I'll model the girls' line."

Marinette giggled.

Chat gazed at her lovingly, "Your laugh is beautiful." He let out a lovesick sigh. "You're perfect."

She looked down at her cup, "I'm not perfect," she said quietly. "I wish you would stop saying that."

"But it's true, Purrincess. You are the most precious of all gemstones."

"I'm not a gemstone, Chat."

"But your eyes are. They're sapphires shimmering in the moonlight." he placed his hand on the side of her face. "Can I kiss you?"

"Yes," she whispered.

He leaned in and she closed her eyes.

When his lips touched hers, it was like a hole was filled. A space in her heart that she hadn't even known was empty.

There was a strong sense of rightness about it.

There was nothing in the world but them.

It was then that she realized.

She was in love with him.

Madly.

And as they broke apart, she almost let it slip but decided to wait to see if he was really in love with her.
