The sun rays beamed into the office of the Homicide Unit and the only present soul there was Detective Beca Mitchell, sipping a warm mug of delicious espresso especially made for her, as she was skimping through papers from papers and into folders writing her week-late report on her mahogany table. She peacefully sat there as she frantically scribbled on her yellow pad, eyes darting back and forth from her report paper and her folder when suddenly, the sun that was shining from her window was blocked, glancing up to find out why, she saw Cavenaugh standing in front of her desk, looking at her with command written in his face as he blocked away the light, she glared at him for making her procrastinate for a minute, and because he was the only person her aura sensing radar didn't pick up on.
"Come with me to the conference room..." Cavenaugh told her before he left her alone in the office once again, letting her have the time to quickly arrange the files of papers on her table before leading her to the floor's conference room where she was greeted by her teams tired faces.
"What is the meaning of this?" Beca asked as she made her way to the very end of the table where she sat across Cavenaugh, she tried to ask her friends through eye language but caught nothing.
"I'm am giving Beca the reigns as captain of this unit, Aubrey is working with the Drug department for something and we can't let her have the loads of being a homicide detective and a raider, so we decided to give the 'captainship' to Beca, with Aubrey's approval." Cavenaugh's confession stirred a small racket as they were confused, Beca caught Aubrey's encouraging smile before they all turned to the Chief who looked like he was going to make a word vomit kinda thing.
"Spill it, old man."Korsak who was already with them at the back of the conference room told Cavenaugh who only gave him a pointed look before the Chief nodded, thinking that it was pointless to hide it when he was still going to say it.
"I need you all to go undercover...."Said Cavenaugh revealed and this is what stirred the biggest racket as everyone had a lot of different reactions on their faces, some were glad some were astonished, some were plainly uncaring. But mostly glad.
"All of us?"Asked Luke, his body was rigid and Beca knew he hoped it wasn't like those kind of undercover where he needs to lure a man or anyone at all, or go down the sewers for answers or to look for hermits in mosquito infected woods.
"Precisely, I need you to get undercover for an important task..."
"Obviously, what would it be?" Beca sarcastically answered and Aubrey nudged her arm, trying to tell her to be nice or she'll be impeached in no time.
"You're going back to college." Cavenaugh said and almost everyone stood from their chairs, with either excitement or disapproval.
"What!?"
"Oh hell nah!" They heard Donald shout from the corner of the room and saw Luke slump down on his seat, shrugging.
"At least we don't need to go down the sewers and mess my hair." He said and Beca chuckled, having guessed it earlier.
"A serial killer is on the lose and Barden University is the first destination he went... The police of Barden couldn't identify him because he stole every file he had in the police stations and in the computers, all we know is that he was back to avenge someone or something, or his dignity seeing that he was arrested there."Cavenaugh explained, standing up and walking to a nearby table where he picked up files and handed it to them one by one.
"And?" Benji asked despite the racket around him, some still complaining.
"I sent your Bio-data's to the school department, made sure you had taken the course you were good at and some of you are going to work on the A Capella team so you wouldn't look like norms, and gain attention to yourselves."
