"So I heard you got kicked out of the famous branch of Lima Bean." Emily Fields flopped down next to Beca as the brunette skimmed through her notes for her criminology class, the petite girl jumped a bit by the sudden appearance of her friend but chuckled soon after when she saw the red clown nose on her.
"News spreads out fast..." Beca smiled, raising her head up for a moment to get a glance of her redheaded girlfriend who was currently playing with the rescued dogs, one of the redheads impossible projects given by their animal doctor, cue, rolls eyes.
Emily chuckled at the brunettes sarcasm and went to catch who was on the brunettes point of view, she smiled again before she nudged the petite brunette on the arm, giving her a teasing stare.
"How smitten are you?" Emily asked, grinning when she saw the brunette blush at her words before Beca went back to her notes.
"Thank God, you didn't say the word 'whipped'." Beca feigned a relieve sigh, hand clutching her chest above her heart while Emily just gave another chuckle.
"Beca, I swear to God, if I use that word on you, even for your size, I'd probably be crushed to death by your icy glare." The girl responded and so it was Beca's turn to chuckle, because it was partly true.
"I can say the same for you, sweet cheeks... And you also look smitten for your blondie over there..." With a point of her fore finger at a certain blond, not Aubrey, Emily immediately looked and beamed at the sight of her best friend, Alison, as the girl passed by and waved at her, with their other friend, Spencer by her side on their way to their Cal. 2 class,"... Emily."
The tone Beca used to catch Em's attention alerted the other brunette, she knew what was coming, the pale girl is one observant piece of Half-Irish woman, she learned. Beca has a knack of being quite when she's not around her certain group of friends and would occasionally people watch, and the fact that she has been watched by this girl was the one Emily felt scared about.
"Emily, she's your best friend--" Before Beca could even finish her sentence, Emily was rambling.
"I know, she is, Becs... And I know it's wrong and it's dangerous and it could ruin our relationship but," Her frown turned upside down when a sudden memory came to her," She's just really... She makes me accept me, you know... and she's actually really nice without that bitchy aura an--" Before Emily could even continue, Beca held up her hand and this made Emily immediately shut up.
"Okay, now listen to me, Fields." Beca said with a pointed look and Emily nodded, "I want you to look at that girl over there." Beca then pointed at Chloe who turned to look at her just in time, the redhead blushed at the attention and smiled at her girlfriend, which Beca returned wholeheartedly, "You know her, right?"
"Of course, Beca, she's your girlfriend and I've known that since the first day I met you because all you could possibly talk about is Chloe Beale." Emily jested and Beca slapped her arm before she continued.
"Before she even became my girlfriend, Emily Fields, she was first and foremost my best friend... The most special best friend I was blessed to have." Beca smiled at her friend who then smiled at realization, "Like you, I was scared too."
"About?" Emily asked now, letting her eyes observe the quad, "What could you possibly be scared about? Is it the same things?"
"Most of it, yes... But I was mostly scared of people judging her, of people isolating or ignoring her." Beca gave her a sad smile and turned back to watch her girlfriend, "She's a bubble of energy, Em, she's my total opposite, but she completes me. I'm scared that if we get together, she'll be in more danger than I am, I have enemies who are willing to kill me anytime. I'm scared that the people she loves would leave her just because of who she's in a relationship with, I'm scared that she'd dread me for the consequences, but when we got together... Nothing close to that happened." Beca smiled again," And I realized that, for every single challenge or problem we might face, being a martyr, feeling hopeless, being negative, being a coward. That is what would make us regret everything."
