When we arrived back at the apartment it was almost 1 pm. We weren't able to get any groceries so Kuroo and Kenma are just going to have to cope with the "garbage" that is in my kitchen. When we stepped inside we kicked off our shoes and shrugged our jackets off. We trudged to the living room and I sat in the chair. Kenma plopped down at one end of the couch, Kuroo following after throwing himself down on the other side, throwing his legs over Kenma's lap. Kuroo let out an obnoxious sigh. Kenma glared at Kuroo then pushed his feet off of him and grabbed the remote off of the table, turning on the TV.
When the screen lit up, it was only static. Kenma gave a confused look and clicked a button sending it to a new channel. That one was static too.
"I guess TV stations are finally down," I stated. "it was only a matter of time before things started shutting down; I didn't think it would happen so soon though." I sighed and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Kuroo looked up at me.
"To start you a shower. You're all bloody and gross. The cuts should probably be washed." Kuroo groaned obnoxiously and flopped across Kenma's lap. Kenma pushed on him trying to pry him off.
"Keiji's right so don't think I'm gonna save you. You're all sweaty and you stink. Get off and go shower." Kuroo pouted some more but eventually, he got up and walked begrudgingly down the hall, and turned into the bathroom. I sighed and turned towards the kitchen to find something to make for dinner. Shortly after, Kenma came in.
"Keiji," I looked over at Kenma who had a plain look on his face, "are you sure you're okay with Kuroo and I staying here. We don't want you to be alone but if you don't want us here then we can leave." I thought I didn't have a choice? I mean part of me wants to be alone. I don't NEED them to keep me company. But it is kind of nice having people say they care. There's still a part of me that hates it though. I've been fine on my own. Caring about someone at a time like this would just complicate things. But I can't bring myself to tell Kenma that, especially after what happened to Kuroo today.
"I'm fine with you guys hanging around. I just figured you would want to spend some time alone for these last few days. Why would you guys want to have me hanging around like a third wheel?" Kenma let out a loud sigh.
"Keiji, we don't think of you as our third wheel. You're our friend. We care about you. I don't want you to be all by yourself at the end of the world. And you already know how Kuroo feels about it. He cares about you so much. Especially after you told us about what happened."
I shot a quick look at him, "Enough, Kenma." He ignored my comment and proceeded to talk.
"When he found out about your family he just wanted to help you, become a new family for you in a way because he knew exactly how you felt." He was almost shouting at this point.
I kept my voice low, "I don't want to talk about it."
"Keiji! It's okay to admit if you feel lonely! YOU CAN'T JUST SPEND FOREVER RUNNING FROM YOUR PROBLEMS!"
"Well guess what, Kenma?! We don't HAVE forever!" I walked up to Kenma, only inches away from his face, "BECAUSE WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE DEAD BY SUNDAY!"
"HEY!" I turned my head towards where the voice had come from. There in the doorway stood Kuroo, in a t-shirt and sweatpants with his hair still wet from the shower. He stared confusingly at Kenma and me. Our faces were red from anger and we were breathing heavily. When I turned back to look at Kenma, he still hadn't broken his gaze on me. He stared at me with a look of anger on his face, but I could tell he felt hurt by the sight of his fingers fidgeting in my peripheral vision. "What's going on here?! I could hear you guys arguing from all the way in the bathroom, even with the shower running! What could you possibly be fighting over?!"
