Bokuto and Kenma are trying to decide on a game for us to start with. Kuroo hasn't been saying much, but he's basically glued to Kenma's side. Every time Bokuto suggests a game he looks to me for approval. I always agree with him.
"Okay, so how about we start with Uno?" Kenma suggested.
"No way! That is way too intense way too fast. It will get heated and cause an argument. The whole point of tonight is to get us to not argue." Bokuto replied. And to be honest, I agree with him.
"Okay, yeah. I guess that makes sense. Do you two have any ideas on what we should play first?" Kenma looked between Kuroo and me.
"Meh. I don't really care what we play." Kuroo said blankly.
"Why don't we try to start with something that won't get very heated. How about-"
"THE GAME OF LIFE!" Bokuto shouted over me, "Oh... sorry Akaashi." He said with a nervous smile.
"It's okay. And I agree. How about Life?" I looked between Kuroo and Kenma for any objections. Kenma looked at Kuroo who just shrugged.
"Well, I guess it's settled," Kenma said, "we will start with Life." Bokuto smiled happily and reached to get the game out of the pile. I helped him to make sure none of the other games on top of it fell and crashed to the floor. Once we successfully got the box out, Kenma opened it and Kuroo and Bokuto began setting up the board. It was awkward but funny nonetheless. Kenma and I watched as the two tried not to argue.
"Dumbass, the big house goes there! They literally have letters on them!" Kuroo whispered, annoyed.
"That's a 'B' not a 'D'! So it goes here." Bokuto retorted.
"Uh, Kuro... he's right. That is a 'B'." Kenma said, trying not to giggle. Kuroo rolled his eyes and tossed the piece back onto the board.
"Whatever, then he can do it." He crossed his arms as Bokuto began getting all of the pieces ready excitedly. He looks excited to be playing. I scooted closer to Bokuto and grabbed all of the money to sort it out. Kuroo and Kenma were quietly talking amongst each other across the room. Kenma looked amused while Kuroo looked annoyed. I'm excited to see how this night ends. Bokuto had finished setting up the board so he turned towards me and began helping with organizing the money. We split the money into two, one for him and one for me, and put them into piles.
"Watcha lookin at, Keiji?" I looked up at Kenma who had a smile on his face. It took me a second to realize what he meant. I looked at Bokuto whose face was bright red. I was accidentally staring at him again. This is so embarrassing. I don't know what's gotten into me. I just find him interesting. That's all. I mean with weird hair like that, how could you not?
"Well, if you're done staring now can we start?" Kuroo said while he rolled his eyes, " I want to hurry up and win so I can prove that Kenma is a loser." Kenma didn't say anything, he just gave Kuroo a death glare.
"Shut it, Kuroo. I'm not staring. And yeah we can start. Pick your car." Bokuto leaned forward and grabbed the yellow car and smiled brightly. Kuroo sighed and grabbed the red car. Kenma always picks white, so I picked green instead. We all grabbed our little people and put them in our cars.
When it came time to pick college or careers, I was the only one to choose the college route. That meant the other three had to pick a career card. Kuroo drew his first and got the Professional Athlete card. Somehow, he always gets this one. Kenma and I think he's cheating, even though he insists he's not. Bokuto pulled his card next and got the Video Game Designer card.
