First, THANK YOU FOR ALMOST 100 READS JFKLDSFHUOEWAFDSHJLD! Words can't describe how thankful I am. I never expected to get 50, so thank you!
Ok, again I'm not copying this person I just wanted to write my own version. If they by some chance see this, then I'm sorry if you feel that I'm taking your idea. Also, I don't have a perfect memory so the dialog will be a little different.
Y/n POV
We sailed for a while. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. I didn't know where we were headed, but I knew we had to reach it soon. The work was hard. I got up before everyone else on the ship and went to sleep after everyone else, too. I took off my binder at night and put back on in the morning, but I was safe and made sure I didn't break any bones (trans friends: please be careful if you are binding. I fully accept you, and I just want you to be safe!). All of the work was worth it when we landed at Trinidad.
First, we helped unload the steamer, but after we had a few days off. Bash had promised Gilbert and I some "Trinidadian Bush Medicine." We walked through the villages, and there was so much to take in.
"What is that aroma?" I question as we made our way through the town.
"What, you never heard of spices before?" Bash replied.
"I'm not really the best cook, so I try not to experiment." I chuckled. The laughed along with me. We continued walking until we reached a grassy lane. We continued to follow Bash, but we began to hear a carriage. One of them pulled me into the bushes, but we all ended up in a pile. I prayed the horses to pass without hearing us, and I was thankful once they had left. We were able to continue our walk without interruptions.
We reached a beautiful white mansion with pillars and windows. I had never seen anything like it before, and I loved that the scene it outlooked on.
"You traded a dull steam ship instead of this?" Gilbert asked wide eyed.
"To trade you need something to give up."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"It's not mine. It's the family my mother works for." He sounded bitter, but I would be, too, if I were in the same position. Bash's mother ran outside and engulfed him in a hug.
"Sebastian! I've missed you, dear boy. I prayed everyday you stayed safe on that ship." Gilbert chuckled a little at finding out his real name was "Sebastian." I laughed as well.
We talked for a short while and got some 'Trinidadian Bush Medicine' but before long it was time to head back to the steamer. We trudged back with full stomaches, but my heart ached for Bash. As we walked, I imagined how Bash told his mother he was leaving or if he had left in the night. I imagined Bash feeling completely alone without anyone to turn to. I realized that I didn't really have to imagine it. I lived it. Of course our situations are extremely different, but we still were very similar.
"Oy, what made you so quiet?" Bash asked while Gilbert nudged my shoulder.
"Oh, um nothing. Lost in thought, I guess. Why, did you guys ask something?" I replied.
"Yeah, um. We were wondering if you were keeping something from us?" Gilbert asked. Guilt bubbled in the pit of my stomach, but I pushed it down.
"No, why would you ask that?"
"Well, you kind of act like a girl, and talk like a girl, and when we fell over you, um," Gilbert gulped a little," you didn't feel like a man, if you understand what I'm saying." My breath hitched and my palms began to sweat. The knew. How could they find out? I knew it was inevitable, but what if they turned me in? What if they tried to throw me overboard? A million scenarios played out in my mind.
Sorry for the sucky ending. I'm trying to update all my ongoing books tonight!
