Chapter 6 - Armor

At this point I had no idea how long I have been here. I would never admit it but....the thought of seeing Pepper again has kept me going.

I put my hands on my head as the men enter, "Relax." A man Motions for us to remove our hands from above our heads. The man inspects my Arc reactor. "The bow and arrow once was the pinnacle of weapons technology. It allowed the great Genghis Khan to rule from the Pacific to the Ukraine. An empire twice the size of Alexander the Great and four times the size of the Roman Empire. But today, whoever holds the latest Stark weapons rules these lands. And soon, it will be my turn." He then starts speaking in a language I do not know.

The two men talk back and forth, soon forcing Yinsen on his knees. "What does he want?" I ask. They force Yinsen's head on a table as they bring a hot coal over, "What do you want? A delivery date?" I try to go towards the man and Yinsen but the other men pull their guns on me. "I need him. Good assistant." I nod.

"You have till tomorrow to assemble my missile."

I spend every moment I have working on the suit, I wouldn't let them kill Yinsen and I. And I definitely wouldn't let them have my weapons.

Yinsen had taught me where to go, he had me repeat it as I put the huge suit on. "Okay? Can you move? Okay, say it again."

"41 steps straight ahead. Then 16 steps, that's from the door, fork right, 33 steps, turn right." I nod. I look over as I hear a voice calling out. "Say something. Say something back to him."

Yinsen starts to panic, "He's speaking Hungarian. I don't..."

"Then speak Hungarian." I nod.

"Okay. I know."

"What do you know?" I ask. The men are shouting through the door while Yinsen is shouting something back at them. "How'd that work?"

"Oh, my goodness. It worked all right."

"That's what I do." I nod.

"Let me finish this."

"Initialize the power sequence." I point.

"Okay."

"Now!" I rush him.

"Tell me. Tell me."

"Function 11. Tell me when you see a progress bar. It should be up right now." I nod.

"Yes."

"Talk to me. Tell me when you see it." I look forward nervously.

"I have it."

"Press Control l." I nod.

"I."

"I. Enter." I nod.

"Got it."

"l and Enter. Come over here and button me up." I say.

"Okay. All right."

"Every other hex bolt." I nod as he does so.

Yinsen panics as we hear them outside "They're coming!"

"Nothing pretty, just get it done. Just get it done." I nod.

"They're coming."

"Make sure the checkpoints are clear before you follow me out, okay?" I ask.

"We need more time. Hey, I'm gonna go buy you some time." Yinsen backs up.

"Stick to the plan! Stick to the plan!" I yell. Yinsen runs out of the cave with a gun from one of the dead men. "Yinsen! Yinsen!"

I watch the progress bar move. The progress bar finishes loading, causing the lights to dim, and the suit to be powered. More men arrive in the cave to get Me. They back up as the eyes light up, I run forward and attack them using the suit. Their bullets bounce off my armor. As I punch them, they fly into the wall. I run down the hall, more bullets bouncing off me as I punch each man. They start to run away as I follow. As the door shuts, I start to break it open. With one final kick, it breaks open.

As I lunge for a man, my arm gets trapped in the wall, I turn as I hear a bullet by my head and a man fall. I pull my arm out and walk along the hall, I stop as I see Yinsen was hurt. "Yinsen!" I yell.

"Watch out!" The leader from before tries to shoot me but misses. I load up my arm and shoot a missile right above his head. "Stark."

I rush over to Yinsen and pull my face plate up, "Come on. We got to go. Move for me, come on. We got a plan. We're gonna stick to it."

"This was always the plan, Stark."

Tears start to form in my eyes, "Come on, you're gonna go see your family. Get up."

"My family is dead. I'm going to see them now, Stark. It's okay. I want this. I want this."

"Thank you for saving me." I cry.

"Don't waste it. Don't waste your life."

My sadness is replaced by anger, I put the face plate down and walk outside, only to be shot at. "My turn." I hiss as they stop. I shoot fire at the men and their camp from mysuit. The men continue to shoot at me, beginning to cause damage to the suit. I hurry and flip the suit and shoot up in the air. I scream as I fall into the sand on the other side of the mountains. The suit breaks when I land. "Not bad."

I put my jacket over my head as I walk the dessert, I look up as I see multiple helicopters. "Hey!" I scream.

One lands and Rhodey runs out to me as I fall to my knees, "How was the fun-vee? Next time....you ride with me okay?" He pulls me in and hugs me, I start to cry as he kisses my head.

I could finally go home.
