The next couple of months were calm, I kept an eye on Peter when I could.I'm glad I was because I sent one of my suits out and found him in the water. But I wasn't here....I was at a wedding.
"And then he just, he just, like, swooped down like a monster and he picked me up and, uh, he took me up, like, a thousand feet and just dropped me. How'd you find me? Did you put a tracker in my suit or something?" Peter asks.
"I put everything in your suit. Including this heater." I say.
"Whoa." The suit is dried instantly. Steam rises from it, surrounding Peter. "Whew, that's better. Thanks."
"What were you thinking?" I ask.
"The guy with the wings is obviously the source of the weapons. I gotta take him down."
"Take him down now, huh? Steady, Crockett, there are people who handle this sort of thing." I say.
"The Avengers?"
"No, no, no. This is a little below their pay grade." I chuckle.
"Anyway, Miss Stark, you didn't have to come all the way out here. I had that. I was fine."
"Oh, I'm not here." The helmet opens up the show him.
"Thank God this place has Wi-Fi or you would be toast right now. Thank Ganesh while you're at it." I say as a man brings me a drink. "Cheers." I smile at the man. "Look, forget the flying vulture guy, please.""Why?"
"Why? Because I said so!" I sigh. A woman walks over to me, I bend down as she puts a flower garland around my neck. "Sorry, I'm talking to a teenager." I smile at the woman. I look back at my phone, "Stay close to the ground. Build up your game helping little people, like that lady that bought you the churro. Can't you just be a friendly..." I take a sip of my drink and out it down.
".....neighborhood Spider-Man?""But I'm ready for more than that now."
"No, you are not." I sigh.
"That is not what you thought when I took on Captain America."
"Trust me, kid. If Cap wanted to lay you out, he would've. Listen to me. If you come across these weapons again, call Happy." I get in my car and start it up.
"Are you driving?"
"You know, it's never too early to start thinking about college. I got some pull at MIT." I put the phone down, "End call."
He was gonna be the death of me.
I was also glad I made it back in New York, just in time to hear about what Peter did in D.C. so I had to call and congratulate him.
"Mr. Parker. Got a sec?" I smile.
"Uh, I'm actually at school."
"Nice work in D.C." I say.
"Okay."
"My dad never really gave me a lot of support... And I'm just trying to break the cycle of shame." I chuckle.
"Uh, I'm kind of in the middle of something right now."
"Don't cut me off when I'm complimenting you. Anyway, great things are about to-" I was cut off by some sort of horn. "What is that?"
"Uh, I'm at band practice."
"That's odd. Happy told me you quit band six weeks ago. What's up?" I ask, worriedly.
"I gotta go. Uh, end call."
"Hey!" I look to see the call ended. "He really just hung up on me. Friday, give me his location." I step into my suit.
