Chapter 13 - Obie

I grab a drink and walk around my living room to the couch, sitting as my phone rings. "Y/N?" Suddenly I feel myself lock up as there was this strange noise. "Y/N, are you there? Hello?" The phone goes out of my hand.

Obadiah pushes me down on my back. "Breathe. Easy, easy. You remember this one, right? It's a shame the government didn't approve it. There's so many applications for causing short-term paralysis. Y/N. When I ordered the hit on you, I worried that I was killing the golden goose." I couldn't move as he takes off my shirt, leaving me in my tank top. He puts a device on top of my Arc Reactor. "But, you see, it was just fate that you survived that." He pulls out my Arc Reactor and holds it in front of my face. "You had one last golden egg to give. Do you really think that just because you have an idea, it belongs to you? Your father, he helped give us the atomic bomb. Now, what kind of world would it be today if he was as selfish as you? Oh, it's beautiful. Y/N, this is your Ninth Symphony. What a masterpiece." He sits next to me, I start to feel myself dying...I was in a huge amount of pain but I couldn't move. "Look at that. This is your legacy. A new generation of weapons with this at its heart. Weapons that will help steer the world back on course, put the balance of power in our hands. The right hands. I wish you could've seen my prototype. It's not as... Well, not as conservative as yours. Too bad you had to involve Pepper in this. I would have preferred that she lived." He puts the Reactor away and leans over to me, kissing my cheek. "I did love you, Y/N." He gets up and walks away.

As soon as I can move I go into the elevator, I crawl on the floor in pain towards Pepper's gift. I reach up but fall down on my back. As I start to give up hope, dummy reaches up and hands me the case, "Good boy." I whisper, grabbing it and smashing it on the ground. I take it out if it's case and insert it into my chest. I gasp in pain as I twist it in.

"Y/N?" I hear a voice. "Y/N! Y/N!" Rhodey helps me up. "Are you okay?"

"Where's Pepper?" I ask.

"She's fine. She's with five agents. They're about to arrest Obadiah."

"That's not going to be enough." My eyes widen, as I walk towards my suit.

Rhodey stares in shock as my suit was fully on me "That's the coolest thing I've ever seen."

"Not bad, huh? Let's do it." I reach forward and blast a car out of the way.

"You need me to do anything else?"

"Keep the skies clear." My face plate goes down as I fly up,

"How do you think the Mark One chest piece is going to hold up?" I ask Jarvis.

"The suit's at 48% power and falling, ma'am. That chest piece was never designed for sustained flight."

"Keep me posted. Pepper!" I call her.

"Y/N! Y/N, are you okay?" She asks.

I sigh in relief, "I'm fine. How are..."

"Obadiah, he's gone insane!"

"I know. Listen, you'd better get out of there." I try to fly faster but it wasn't as strong.

"He built a suit."

"Get out of there right now!" I yell. I fly over a building to see Obadiah, "Stane!" I fly right down and knock him through the hole in the floor. We fly out into oncoming traffic.

"I love this suit!" Obie lifts up a car with a family in it.

"Put them down!" I yell.

"Collateral damage, Y/N."
