I force the double doors open to the facility, walking in and retracting my helmet as I see Steve and Barnes. "You seem a little defensive." I look around.
Barnes keeps his gun up while Steve walks to meet me with his shield covering his body. "It's been a long day."
"At ease, Soldier. I'm not currently after you." I point.
"Then why are you here?" Steve asks.
"Could be your story's not so crazy. Maybe. Ross has no idea I'm here. I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, I gotta arrest myself." I nod.
"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork." He lowers his shield. "It's good to see you, Y/N." He smiles.
"You too, Cap." I smile, hugging him, I look up at Barnes. "Hey, Manchurian Candidate, you're killing me. There's a truce here. You can drop...." Steve signs Barnes to lower his weapon and he does. I walk along the corridor beside them, my helmet going back on as we walk into a huge chamber. "I got heat signatures." I say.
"How many."
"Uh, one." I say. As we enter the vast chamber the lights come on. Hazy, yellow mist descends within the capsules.
Suddenly a voice plays through a speaker, "If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep." All of the enhanced soldiers have been shot in the head. "Did you really think I wanted more of you?"
"What the hell?" Barnes says.
"I'm grateful to them, though. They brought you here." Zemo appears in a control room. Steve hurls his shield but it flies back. "Please, Captain. The Soviets built this chamber to withstand the launch blast of UR-100 rockets."
"I'm betting I could beat that." I yell.
"Oh, I'm sure you could, Miss Stark. Given time. But then you'd never know why you came."
"You killed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here?" Steve asks.
"I thought about nothing else for over a year. I studied you. I followed you. But now that you're standing here, I just realized.....there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes. How nice to find a flaw."
"You're Sokovian. Is that what this is about?" Steve asks as my helmet goes off.
"Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell. No. I'm here because I made a promise."
Steve studies Zemo, "You lost someone?"
"I lost everyone. And so will you." I look over as the screen starts to play something. "An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one which crumples from within? That's dead...forever."
I freeze as I see the date....the road, "I know that road. What is this?" I ask angrily.
The video plays, I watch as my parents car was crashed, a figure rides up and gets off his motorcycle. My eyes twitches as I watch my father crawling, the soldier picks him up by his hair "Sergeant Barnes?" I hear my father.
"Howard!" My mother yells. I look up to see Barnes staring at me, I look back at the screen as I see him beating my father.
"Howard!"
My breathing quickens as he puts my father back in the car, walking around to my mother. He stands there, staring off as he choked my mother. I tilt my head as he walks to the camera and shoots it.
I take a moment to think, my mothers screams were echoing inside my head. I then lunge for Barnes. "Y/N! Y/N!" Steve grabs me.
I suck in a deep breath and look up at him sadly, "Did you know?" I ask.
