The party was a hit! I felt great in my outfit, got lots of compliments on it...Pepper actually picked it out for me. We were having fun, drinking, laughing....and listening to boring stories.
"Well, you know, the suit can take the weight, right? So I take the tank, fly it right up to the General's palace, drop it at his feet, I'm like, Boom! You looking for this?" Thor and I look at Rhodey blankly as he finishes. "Boom! Are you looking...Why do I even talk to you guys? Everywhere else that story kills." Rhodey sighs.
"That's the whole story?" Thor asks.
"Yeah, it's a War Machine story."
"Well, it's very good then." Thor laughs. "It's impressive."
"Quality save. So, no Pepper? She's not coming?" Rhodey asks me.
"No." I sigh....I missed her.
"Hey, what about Jane? Where are the ladies, gentlemen?" Maria asks.
"I'm a lady...remember?" I ask, laughing.
"I know...you just don't act like it." Maria smirks.
I laugh, "Well, Miss Potts has a company to run." I nod.
"Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer." Thor says.
"And the company that Pepper runs is the largest tech conglomerate on earth. It's pretty exciting." I smile.
"There's even talk of Jane getting a... um, uh... Nobel prize." Thor looks at me.
"Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together." She coughs, "Testosterone! Oh, excuse me." Her and Rhodey walk away.
"Im still a woman!" I yell.
"But Jane's better." Thor walks off.
I stand there astonished.
I grab another drink and mingle with others.
The night went pretty quick, I've learned to not drink as much.....to enjoy myself without getting drunk and destroying things.
I was having a great time as the guest left and it was just the team...a family. I laugh as the main topic was Thor's hammer.
"But, it's a trick!" Clint yells.
"Oh, no. It's much more than that." Thor nods.
"Uh, Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power! Whatever man! It's a trick." Clint laughs.
"Well please, be my guest." Thor points to the table.
