"How much longer are we going to be driving?" Amelia groaned, annoyed. They had been driving for over two hours now and it was a little after 4 in the morning. She was more annoyed at the fact that she hadn't been able to sleep the entire time, and that Colton decided to show up to her house at the time he did, also hindering her ability to sleep. She had planned to have a glass or two of wine with Celia before going to bed but no, Colton just had to come and ruin that plan.

"Calm down," Colton said amused, "we have about an hour left before we get to the motel. You'll be fine." Amelia turned to glare at the side of his face, causing him to chuckle slightly.

"Don't tell me to calm down," Amelia snapped, the lack of sleep and annoyance from her shift at the bar getting to her, "you just had to show up at my house in the middle of night and drag me back into this mess. I was perfectly fine how I was. I had a job and a friend who actually cares about me, and I thought I had left this all behind. But nooo, you just had to show up and ruin everything for me-"

"Amelia shut up." Colton cut off her rambling, fighting back the smile that was starting to make its way onto his lips. Amelia made a grumbling sound, talking to herself under her breath.

"Open the glove compartment and be merry." Colton nodded his head in the direction of the glove compartment in front of her. "Why the hell do I need to open the glove compartment? What are you on abou-" Amelia started.

"Just open the damn thing." Amelia huffed before leaning forward and pulling the glove compartment open. Her eyes widening at the contents.

"What's this?" She eyed Colton suspiciously, causing him to chuckle once again. Inside the glove compartment was a handful of snacks. Ranging from a variety of chips to different kind of chocolate bars. All of which happened to be Amelias' favorites.

"If I remember correctly," Colton started, sending a smirk her way, "anytime we had a late night case and you got grumpy from lack of sleep, or because of me, snacks always made you better. And I knew we would be on the road for awhile so I came prepared. I hope those are still your favorites." Amelia narrowed her eyes at him, humming slightly.

"Do you think that just because you packed all my favorite snacks that I'm just gonna forge- Ooh brownies!" Amelia cut herself off and lunged forward and dug through the snacks until she reached the very bag and pulled out a couple cosmic brownies. She happily ripped open the packaging and picked off a piece of the brownie, bringing it to her lips and humming in delight.

"This changes nothing." She mumbled with her mouth full, causing Colton to let out a small laugh. Amelia continue eating the brownies happily until they both were finished. She then glanced at Colton sideways.

"Thanks, I guess." She mumbled to him, still not fully looking at him.

"You're welcome Lia." Colton replied with a small smile, but she didn't return the gesture. "Don't call me that," She suddenly said, her tone hard, "you lost the right to call me that years ago." Coltons' eyes closed for a second, a sigh leaving his mouth.

"I'm sorry Amelia, what else can I say?" He asked, almost desperately.

Amelias' response was short, "Nothing."

A little over an hour later and a short 30 minute nap, Amelia was greeted with the sight of a small cabin. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"I thought you said we were staying in a motel, where are we?" She asked, her lips dropping into a small frown.

Colton smiled sheepishly, "That might've been a lie. This place is better suited for what we need." He shut the car off and made his way out, walking up the driveway to the front door. Amelia jumped out after him, quickly grabbing her bag from the back and followed him inside.
