Half an hour and a bottle of wine later, the pair had moved to the living room and were seated on the couch. Facing each other, Celia and Amelia had spent the last 3o minutes conversing over little details, never staying on one topic. Celia, however, was very adamant about talking about the love lives of the two.

"Oh come on," She said to Amelia, glass of wine in her right hand, "you really don't want someone who you can come home to after a shift like tonight? I mean, you're alone most of the time in this apartment apart from the times I'm here for the night when we both work late. It'd be nice to have a handsome man waiting on you in bed." She sent Amelia a knowing look as she sipped from her glass, hoping Amelia caught onto the underlying meaning of her words.

Amelia rolled her eyes in response, "I don't want a man waiting on me in my bed Celia."

"Everyone wants a man waiting for them in their bed." Celia deadpanned.

Amelia held up a finger as she took a sip from her glass, "Not me. I am perfectly fine being on my own with no one to come home to. It's not like they'd enjoy the late hour I work anyway, and you know Mac won't change that anytime soon." Celia groaned and dropped her head onto the back of the couch, "You are impossible." Amelia let out a small laugh, shaking her head. Celia has always wanted Amelia to get out and start dating but it was made clear that was not something Amelia was interested in doing.

Amelia opened her mouth to respond but stopped short when there was a knock at the door. Both girls head turned to the door, Amelias eyebrows furrowing in confusion. It was almost 2:30 in the morning. Who on earth would be knocking on her door at this hour.

"I don't know who that is but maybe they can talk some sense into you about dating." Celia said as she stood up off the couch, making her way to the front door with the glass of wine in her hand. Amelia hurriedly stood up and followed her, "You really shouldn't answer the door at this hour." Her warning fell on deaf ears as Celia continued making her way to the front door, Amelia in tow.

"Celia really, don't open the doo-" Amelia was cut off when Celia pulled the front door open revealing a man on the other side. A man who made Amelia freeze where she stood and her breathing to stop.

"Well hello there," Celia smiled to him, opening the door wider, "and what might your name be?" She asked, her eyes raking up and down his body.

The man smiled warmly back at Celia, "My name is-"

"Colton Reid." Amelia cut him off, finally finding her voice. Both Colton and Celias' head snapped to Amelia standing a few feet behind Celia.

Celias' smiled dropped as realization set in, "Wait, Colton? As in-"

"My old partner," Amelia finished once again, her eyes not leaving Colton, her voice hard, "What are you doing here Colton?"Colton's smiled dropped too once his eyes met with Amelias', his gaze softening as he spoke to her, "I need to talk to you." Amelia scoffed and began turning away from the door, "We have nothing to talk about."

"Amelia wait." Colton called out to Amelias' retreating figure. Celia looked between both Colton and Amelia before walking after her, leaving the front door open and allowing Colton to walk inside.

"Amelia wait," Celia said as she caught up to Amelia in the kitchen, "don't you think you should at least hear what he has to say?" Amelia scoffed, taking another sip of her wine, "Whatever he has to say to me, it's not important." She spoke with a glare.

She promised herself that she would never speak to him again. He had abandoned her along with everyone else when shit hit the fan on their last case. She never expected him to be one of the people to turn their back to her, to not even defend her when she was being ridiculed. He was her partner, her best friend, her better half for her entire career, and that was all thrown away. She would never forgive him.

"Amelia please," Colton begged, standing in the entranceway of the kitchen, "there is no one else I can turn to or trust to help me. No one else who would believe me." His eyes were pleading for her to give him a chance to talk to her. Amelia laughed sourly, "Funny how you only want to talk to me when there is no one else, isn't it?" Coltons' eyes shut with a sigh as his head dropped.

"I'm sorry Amelia," He spoke with his head still down, "I know you hate me and you have every right to but please, I need your help." Coltons gaze moved back up to Amelias face, his eyes begging her to hear him out.

Amelias' hard gaze softened a fraction when locking eyes with him. She cursed herself when she felt herself want to give in, to hear what Colton had to say, but she couldn't. She promised to leave her old life behind, and that included him.

Amelia remained silent as the two stared at each other, that is until Celia placed her hand on Amelias' arm.

"Look," She started softly, setting her glass on the table, "I know how much you want to forget your old life and everything that came with it. I also know that you haven't told me everything involving with what you use to do, and that's okay. But it's not okay with how much you're still affected by whatever it is that happened," Celia paused and sent a glance toward Colton before turning back to Amelia, "it's obvious whatever happened involved him, and that your still hurt by it. And you have every right to tell him to get out, but by the look on his face, whatever he has to tell you is important. At least listen to him, and get the closure you need from whatever it is that still haunts you to this day." Amelias' eyes became glossy as she stared at Celia. She was right. She needed to get this entire thing behind her, she needed closure. Who knows if Colton can give that to her? Who knows if anyone can, but she has to at least try.

Amelias eyes settled on Colton once again, still standing in the entranceway of the kitchen. "Please." He pleaded once again. Amelia shut her eyes and turned her head away from him, walking closer to the table.

"How about this," Celia spoke up again, "you listen to what he has to say, actually fully listen to him, and I'll ask Justin out on an actual date and stop beating around the bush. But that's only if you listen to what he has to say fully through." Celia raised her eyebrows at Amelia, a cheeky smile playing at her lips. Amelia looked her before her eyes glanced all around the kitchen.

She sighed, placing her hands on the table in front of her, her eyes dropping closed as her head bent down. Her mind in a flurry.

Finally she opened her eyes and chugged the rest of the wine in her glass, before turning to look at Colton.

"You have 20 minutes."
