"You're not worried other agents will recognize me and start to ask questions?" Amelia asked as the two stepped out of the car and made their way to the crime scene. The local police was already on scene, of course, and had already shut off the street to the rest of the public. There were half a dozen police cars parked around the house and on the street with the lights on but not the sirens. Police tape strung across the front yard swinging in the slight breeze.

"Lucky for us," Colton told her with a smirk, "I'm the only one working the field on this case." Amelia looked at him furrowed brows, asking what he meant. "No one else wanted to be in the field for this one or they were either working other things that they couldn't get away from. I went to the director and told him I would work the field by myself, said it'd be better than not having anyone in the field helping local police. He allowed it, but I do have to consult the team back at headquarters. It's actually nice not having other agents out here with me, I can focus better alone."

"So you're saying you prefer working alone without a partner because you work better, good to know." Amelia chuckled bitterly.

Coltons' eyes widened, "Wait I didn't mean it like that-"

"Don't, it's fine," she grumbled out as they got closer to the detective who was standing just behind the police tape, "once this is over, you can go back to working alone. And never have to worry about me again." Colton didn't have time to respond as they reached the lead detective. Amelia put some distance between the two once they stopped walking and crossed her arms over her chest. Colton let out a soft sigh with a frown before wiping his expression clean when speaking to the detective.

"Detective Roberts," Colton greeted, reaching his hand out to shake hands with the man, "nice to see you again."

Detective Roberts accepted the shake with a tilt of his head, "Not under these instances sadly. Thanks for coming out."

"No problem," Colton assured, letting go of his hand before motioning to Amelia beside him, "this is Agent Mason. She's been brought in to assist me in the field." Amelia stepped forward with a smile on her face and her hand outstretched, "Nice to meet you." Detective Rogers shook her hand and smiled back.

"Nice to meet you too, and thank you for coming out too," He said, dropping her hand, "we'll need all the help we can get with this guy. What he did here, it's awful."

"What's the story here?" Amelia asked, nodding her head towards the house where officers and crime scene investigators were coming in and out of the home.

"Family of five," Detective Roberts began, "the mother and father were killed in their bedrooms. The mother was tied down to the bed with socks from the victims drawers, the husband duct taped by his wrist and ankles was sat in a chair moved from the dining room to the bedroom. He was facing the bed. There's evidence of sexual assault on the mother before she was killed. We believe that the husband was forced to watch whatever was done to his wife before he was killed. He was killed by a single stab wound through the heart, but the wife suffered at least 23 stab wounds before her throat was slit."

"What about the children?" Amelia asked, forcing her voice to remain steady.

"The oldest was found in the living, it was the son. The television was still on so we believe in assailant caught him by surprise. He was killed from his throat being slit as well. His body is on the living room floor in front of the couch," Detective Roberts paused for a second to take a deep breath before continuing, "the second oldest was found in her room. The same position that the mother was found in. Sexual assault evident on her as well. She suffered a few more stab wounds than her mother did but was stabbed nonetheless. We don't know whether or not the mother and father were killed before the daughter or the other way around. Or how he managed to control them all long enough to restrain them all. The only thing we know for sure is that the son was killed first."
