Today in school,
we were asked to write about someone
who has made an impact on our lives. And you were the only person I could think of.
Granny,
it was always you.You have had the biggest impact on me—
not because of anything loud or grand,
but because you saw me
when I couldn't even see myself.
You knew who I could become. You taught me that I was worth it.
That I didn't have to shrink
to make others comfortable.
That I could be soft
and still be strong. You always said,
"I'll always be with you"
And you have been
You remind me I'm stronger
than the things that try to break me.
You make me braver,
even when you're not here. And maybe I didn't believe in myself then—
but I'm starting to believe in me now.
Because you did.
Because you always did. When the world felt too big,
and I felt too small,
you were the one who held me.
You made me feel safe.
You made me feel like I mattered.I will always remember your hands—
always warm, always working.
Playing with my hair.
Wiping away tears.
Lifting me up.You gave me roots to grow to the person I am,
and somehow,
you gave me wings too.
So I could soar across the sky
So I could be freeI'm still learning how to believe in myself,
but I'm getting there.
Step by step.
Word by word.
Day by day.Because you believed in me first.
Thank you, Granny.
For everything.
For all the love you gave
without asking for anything back.I carry you with me
in everything I do.
I hope I make you proud.S.I.
