Chapter 6
We drove for about 15 minutes, entering a part of town i didn't recognize.
"Are we almost there?" I asked, impatiently. Harry rolled his eyes, this being the 7th time I asked.
"Jeez Alex just calm down, we're almost there. Two more minutes. Do you think you can handle that?" he said, talking to me like I was I child.
"yes..." I mumbled, frustrated at the wait. About two minutes later, (like Harry had said) we arrived at a small, cozy looking flat, with navy blue shutters, and a dark gray door. I jumped out of the car, running up the pavement that led to the front door. As I stood on the 'Welcome' mat, nervous feelings washed over my body. What if he doesn't remember me? I brushed those thoughts off as I waited for the other two to catch up.
"Ring it" Harry ordered, giving me a slight nod. I rang the orange glowing doorbell, waiting. I heard faint footsteps coming closer until finnaly, the door opened.
**Ed's POV**
"No no, you see, I thought that you said NEXT Friday. Not today!" I said frustrated, through the phone. I was talking with the manager of this neat club a few miles away. I was supposed to play a gig there until they called this morning. I could have SWORE they said next Friday. Whatever.
{KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK}
"Hey um, let me sort this out later. I'll try to figure out something. I gotta go. Talk to you later" I said, pressing the 'End Call' button. I jogged around the corner to the front room, as I opened the door.
Holy shit.
"Ed?"
I stood there in shock at the girl standing in my doorway. This couldn't be happening. There stood my sister, Harry and....Alex.
"H-hi" I stuttered out, still in shock. I invited them in as I lead them to the small living room. We sat there in awkward silence for a while, until she broke it.
"I've missed you so much." she whispered, sobs slowly slipping from her mouth. I wouldn't give into it.
"D-did you ever get my note?" she asked, her dark brown eyes gazing into mine.
"You mean the note that told me you didn't care about me?" I said, angrily remembering the day that I found it. It read:
"Dead Ed,
I'm sorry that it had to be said this way. I wish I could talk to you in person right now. I can't stay here. If I did, I would be putting Annabel and myself in danger. I just can't have her getting hurt. By the time you read this, I will be gone. A long way from here. I'm sorry. I just want to say that I'm really going to miss you, and that I'm so proud of you. Please tell Jenna I said goodbye. Take good care of her Ed. Hopefully, I will meet up with you someday. Who knows? You could be 20 years old. Let's just hope it's before that.
Lots of love,
Alex"
I had found the note tapped to my front door. I still have it, hoping I would see her one day. But not now; now I wish I could never see her again.
"W-what do you mean?" she said, hurt by my harsh words.
"You mean to tell me, that after you left me, leaving me alone, having no one to support me like you did, you want me to believe that I'm not mad?!" I said, getting angry. She was taken back, not expecting my response.
"I did it for Annabel, I didn't do it to hurt you. I promise" she said, reaching for my hand. I snapped it away, not wanting to give into her. She was disappointed.
"I really thought that I could come here, get snug hug from you, and catch up. I guess not." she said, getting up from the couch, and walking towards the front door.
"Alex I-" I said, bein cut off by the slamming of the front door.
