Chapter 5-The letter

Dear Ed and Maes
I have missed yous like crazy! it's only been a week, and i'm already hating it. We have moved trenches about a dozen times, and Iv'e heard about a possible attack....

I still have your picture Maes, it sits safe and snug in my uniform, and your letter Ed sits beside it. I havent read it yet, but i will when i need to. Hawkeye, havock, Armstrong, Grumman and Marcoh all say hey. We all miss you.
How is maes? is he being bullied? does he have friends? Does he remember me? Is he happy?

Raven was killed yesterday, a bomb went off in his section and inured him and 12 others, and killed 8 instantly. Ed it was horrible, his legs were gone, just blown off as though they were dust on your shelves. Im not going to lie, it was a slow and painful death for the bastard. He cried out for his wife.
They said that they have sent a letter inside a YELLOW envelope to Mrs Raven the day this letter was sent. I just hope she's going to be ok

Im sorry iI cant write alot, paper has went down. The conditions are stupid, and dirty...And the scars you healed that were feasting on my sadness...They have came back, they have plagued my mind with despair and grief. But what am i to do? I am simply a state alchemist who has been given a White cloak and orders to do...and i do them.
* Edward begins to cry"
We had to destroy a city on our third day of being here. It reopened locked up memories. There was a young child, about the same age as Maes, and he lay at the side of the road, as though he was garbage, they never even buried them. They piled them up and burned them. Many became ill from the smell, I however continued y day knowing fine well what the smell was. They took the young boys possessions, he had a small teddy with him, it's eye was missing, and half of it's stuffing was at its head, so it have it a lopsided look. But it was a nice teddy, it was the young boys. But they threw it in the flames as the bodies beneath became black and burnt.
*Bottom of page is smeared with tear stains*

I Love you Edward Elric, and i miss you so much, and if i could be there to hug you, then i would.
I would be there with you to kiss goodnight to Maes, i would be there to take him to the park, I would be there to give him cookies he isnt allowed. I would be there to give you my entire heart and soul.

But i cant, and so for now, let this picture of me in closed in the envelope me enough for you just now. The second picture is for Maes, please give it to him, say it's from his fire Daddy.

ps. I havent spellchecked this chapter because it shows that Roy has wrote it quickly, and is really upset...so thats why spelling is 10X worse. ALSO the bits in bold thats *looks like this* its something that Edward does, or notices.
