Finding things, or people, in this new world can be a curse or a blessing. As of right now, it turned out to be a blessing. My heart rate decelerates as I begin to recognize the person who stands before me. After thinking ,maybe he's gone or that walkers got him, I was wrong all this time. I didn't even give him a full day to have a chance of surviving.
I give him a hug, glad to see that my thoughts were wrong. "I thought you were dead Bob."
"I thought I was too until i proved myself wrong. Boy, am i glad to see you."
He lights a candle to illuminate the room.
There are so many questions that i want to ask him. So many that rush through my mind from that day to now but all i can get out is: "How?".
By the looks on his face, he's embarrassed. "I could have come back but i thought you guys wouldn't need me. I brought alcohol instead of supplies we actually needed. If you guys saw me with it, i know I'd be in trouble." He goes inside his bag pulling out water, granola bars and a bottle of alcohol.
"I can't drink it. I know i made the wrong choice."
Bob has always had a drinking problem and seeing this angers me.
"You've could've come back Bob. We're accepting people. They would-"
"It's not like that. This happened before and everyone turned on me for weeks."
Sympathy rushes through me along with this other feeling. I remember taking that acohol bottle at the store but never having the urge to open it.
"Then you deal with it Bob. You can't run away from i!" i let out my anger at him. He notices and changes to when he left the car.
"You guys were all out and the only way you could have stayed alive was me leading them somewhere else. That led to here."
Looking around, Bob has already made himself comfortable. Windows barricaded, traps set up. He has this all down.
"Tell me yourself, what are you doing outside of the prison?" Depressingly, i tell him everything and everyone we have lost.
~
Bob has given me a blanket, water and snacks allowing me to get comfy on the couch. As i close my eyes, all i can see is Rick. He's taken over me.
~
With everything that went on last night, i couldn't sleep. I got my hand cleaned up before Bob and I started searching for the others. When i told him about everyone, he was determined to find them. Mostly Sasha.
Before we leave, he stares at the bottle of alcohol placed on top of the table.
"You don't need it Bob and you know it."
~
Outside, we dodge plenty of walkers and trail into the woods. "How much ammo do you have?" Frustrated, i check mine to only see three bullets left.
"I have a clip left." He replies. "You know, Rick is alive. So are the others." He catches up to me so we walk side by side.
"I know." I simply say while looking at my surroundings and see a railroad tracks. I lead both of us there.
"He cares alot about you Iris." I smile hearing things that Rick says about me. I couldn't help smiling when Daryl told me too.
"Before you came, there were some women trying to get what you have with Rick. He didn't click with them as much as you guys do." By now, it makes me miss Rick more than i already do. It makes me wish i can kiss his lips right now and never let go.
Ahead of us are dead bodies of what use to be people. Right away i think that it can be somebody we know. Bob gets the same idea and we run over. It is all fresh blood surrounding it. They were already put to peace.
The bushes in front of us rustle causing us to raise our weapons up. I hold my breath steady for the next event.
Who i thought was a walker, Aron steps out. I run to him and wrap my arms around him. Nothing can feel as good as seeing your blood alive.
"Thank you God." I say into his shoulder then kiss his cheek. My conscious is turning out to be right. He made it out alone but alive and that's all that matters to me. Bob goes to give him a hug too.
"Did anybody make it out with you?" I ask but i can read right through him something happened.
"No.." he whispers quietly. He must've not made it out with Beth.
"Hey, you're with us. You're here. We found eachother Aron." I give him another smile to show him that things will get better.
Aron carries nothing with him besides his knife. "We're going to find the others Aron. Maybe Beth is with them." I can feel my faith grow. Just like my parents had faith when the hospital said she wouldn't make it, i have it. I look towards Bob.
"And Sasha. Rick. Carl....everyone." Both men remain quiet until Bob speaks up. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's find our people." I feel good about this. I really do.
"Guys wait." We stop walking and hear what Aron has to say.
"I found this map that leads to a place called Terminus..."
