Are You The One?

Chapter 2

When Manny and his tools reached the seaside, he was greeted by a very tight, affectionate hug.

"Pepe!" he said, looking at his little nephew. "What're you doing here?"

"I wanted to help, Manny," said Pepe. "I have made a greeting card for Kelly. Do you think she'll like it?"

He showed Manny the card, which had 'Happy Birthday Kelly' written on it in neat, colourful font.

"She'll love it, Pepe," Manny assured the boy. "By the way, where's Lola?"

"Mommy and Chico are with Mr Lopart," replied Pepe. "Elliot is trying to pitch a tent."

"What am I there for?" asked Manny. "Come on tools!"

Led by Dusty, the tools jumped out of the toolbox and accompanied Manny and Pepe to the point where Elliot was. 

"Here you are, Manny," said Elliot. "How do we pitch the tent?"

"Leave it to me," said Manny. Soon, he and the tools got into work and soon the tent was perfectly pitched. 

Then, he and the tools watched over Pepe and Chico, while Lola and Mrs Portillo helped Elliot and Mr Lopart decorate the tent.

"It's perfect," said Elliot. "Manny, can you be the one to escort Kelly here tomorrow? You are her best friend."

"Of course," Manny said with a grin.

After he returned to his shop, Manny was very pleased. "Manny, have you decided what song to sing?" asked Squeeze.

Manny nodded. 

"Fabuloso! What song are you gonna sing?" asked Felipe.

Manny told them, and soon, the room was filled with music. He was singing and strumming a guitar. Felipe and Turner were crashing their heads on aluminium cups, Squeeze and Stretch were making strange backing tunes, and Pat, Flicker, Dusty and Rusty were banging, strumming and blowing their own instruments.

"Let's get some good night's rest now," said Manny. "Otherwise I might get a bad impression in front of Kelly tomorrow."

The tools didn't understand Manny's sudden stern tone. They were oblivious to the fact that Manny liked Kelly. But nevertheless, they obeyed him.
