Are You The One?

Chapter 11

Ginny gave Pepe some sweets to eat, as Manny and the tools examined the filing cabinet. 

"Hmm, there's something really sticky in the slides," said Manny. "Felipe, Turner, help me remove the drawers from the chest."

The screwdrivers obliged and soon, all the four drawers were out of the chest.

"Yuck!" said Turner. "Manny, there's something really sticky and rancid in there!"

"It just needs a good cleaning job," said Manny. "Let me go and get the rag from the truck."

"Manny, I'll go and get it," said Pepe.

"Okay. Dusty, go along with him." 

The handsaw nodded and went along with Pepe.  

After getting the rag from the truck, both of them entered the house when suddenly, they heard voices from a corner. 

"Bae, we must let them know, now that you know the truth," said a female voice. 

"We will, very soon," replied a male voice.

Pepe squealed in fright when he heard that. "Dusty, did you hear that?" 

"Yes Pepe. It's Elliot's voice," said Dusty in a shivering tone. "I wonder what he's up to!"

In his hysteria, Pepe accidentally placed his foot on a skateboard which was lying nearby. He had a minor fall, and would have been badly hurt if he hadn't clung on to Dusty's handle.

"Aah!" he bellowed.

Hearing his nephew moaning in pain, Manny rushed to him along with the other tools. 

"Pepe! Estás bien?" he said, panicking.  "I'm okay, Manny," replied Pepe. "Dusty me salvo."

"Good Lord," said Manny, and let out a sigh of relief. 

"What's all this commotion?" asked Elliot's voice. He emerged out of a nearby room, with lavender-haired Carmela by his side. When he saw Pepe and the skateboard, he put his hand on his forehead.

Pepe slowly got up and told Manny everything, which made Manny gawk with confusion  at Elliot and Carmela. "Can you give me an explanation for this?"

Elliot, in turn, had to explain about his and Carmela's relationship. Manny controlled his mirth, but Pepe and the tools burst out laughing. 

"You could've told us earlier!" said Ginny.

"I have a reason for not telling earlier," said Elliot. "Carmela has known Manny for years and I thought that she might be interested in him, but luckily, he's interested in my sis!"

Manny chuckled. "Both of you are my closest friends, and I'm happy that both of you are together."

 "By the way, sorry Pepe. Because of my carelessness, you got hurt," said Elliot. 

The little boy denied getting hurt, but yet, forgave Elliot. Manny fixed the filing cabinet, and left.

Pepe told his mother about the incident, and she too had a good laugh. Even Chico, who was just a toddler, seemed to understand that it was funny, and laughed.
