Chapter 26: all my fault

Luke's POV

I woke up the next morning, and I went to join the guys a breakfast. We were all making cereal when Haley walked in. Her eyes were red and puffy. It looked as if she had been crying all night. She probably was. I was too.
I can't believe I never told Haley! I'm an idiot. I should have told her from the beginning. She thinks my feelings are all a lie. But they aren't! And now i might lose her. She might even end up with Calum. He did like her first.. And Calum hates me too. He probably has ever since I asked her out. But he acted like he didn't care. I'm so stupid and selfish.

When Haley walked in she looked at me but quickly turned away when our eyes met. She went and sat down by Calum.

I tired to sit down next to her, but as soon as I did she got up.

"I'm going to eat in my room." She stated getting up.

"I'm such a freaking idiot." I said hitting my hand on the table.

"Calm down. You guys can work this out." Alston said trying to calm me down.

"No this is all my fault. I need to talk to her." I said getting up.

"Luke, just let her calm down then try, okay?"

But I couldn't wait. I got up and walked straight into her room.

"Haley. Talk to me."
She was laying facedown on her bed. She picked her head up. Her face was red from crying.

"What luke?" She said turning back around.

"I just need to talk to you." I stated trying to hold her hand, but she pulled away. She has never done that before.

"Isn't it enough you made me like this, and now you want to talk? It's all going to get worse." She said crying.

"Baby I'm sorry-" I tried.

"You know what Luke? Maybe we really need to take a break. We can think about things, about the truth, and see where it goes from there." She said taking off her ring and handing it to me.

I was speechless.

"Save it for a special girl Luke."

I couldn't handle it. I got up and left. I went straight to my thinking spot. When I got there I broke down. I sat and cried holding the ring. Her words just kept playing over and over in my head. I couldn't save it for anyone else. There is no one else I love.

Haley's POV

I can't believe I just said that. I broke down and cried into my pillow. My finger felt naked with out the ring on it. Someone knocked on my door.

"Luke don't even try." I said burying my face in my pillow.

"It's me." Calum said.

"Oh. Sorry." He said sitting next to me.

"Did you break up?" He said as laying down next to me.

"Y-yeah." I replied as tears went down my face.

"I'm sorry, Haley."

By now Calum and I were cuddling in my bed. It felt good to have someone there for me. Calum stayed with me all day. We ate ice cream and watched movies.

"Calum," I spoke up," should I leave?"

"No, you should stay. Just since you and lien broke up doesn't mean you guys cant still be friends." he said sitting up a little.

"Okay, I need to talk to luke soon." I said letting out a breath.

"Oh, yeah." He said sadly.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, it's just like, since you and luke aren't together I hoped you and I could try.." H said looking away.

"Calum, I don't know. it's still early to think about." I stated.

"Just think, okay?"

"Okay."

But before I knew it Calum was kissing me. But the crazy thing is, I kissed him back.

"Calum.." I breathed, but I realized what was happening.

"This can't happen yet!" I said getting up and walking to the other side of the room.

"Why not?" He said following me.

"I'm not even over Luke yet and I'm already kissing you."

"So?" He said. "It's not like you're dating anymore."

"Yeah, but-"

I was cut off my his lips. He kissed me again. I admit, it did feel good to kiss someone after the breakup.

I kissed him back, letting out all my feelings into the kiss.

"We can't Calum." I said resting my forehead on his.

"Why not? Maybe this is what you need to get your mind off luke."

"I don't know." I said unsure.

"Let me take you on one date." He said kissing my cheek.

"Okay, but we can't let any of the boys find out, yet."
