Mysterious Miss S out ->

"A death?" Viessa Elvyre asked, surprised. Deaths were very rare in the lost cities. She didn't exactly know why Mr. Forkle wanted her to investigate a death scene but she was a bit curious to see who died. Hopefully, it wasn't anyone she knew.

"Yes, Miss Elvyre. A death," Mr. Forkle told her.

Viessa frowned, scrunching her face, "Who died?"

"Telling you that wouldn't be you investigating," Mr. Forkle smiled, but then his smile disappeared quickly.

"Fine," she huffed, pushing her brownish-blonde hair out of her face. "But it's important isn't it?"

Mr. Forkle stared at the ground as he whispered a quiet, "You'll see,"

Viessa had never seen Mr. Forkle like this before. From the day she met Mr. Forkle, he was always secretive and commanding. Today he was acting a bit secretive but he was all quiet and worried. Something big had happened for sure. She would just have to go check it out.

"Yes, you will just have to go check it out." Mr. Forkle said, back to his normal self. "You have to go alone and don't tell anyone a word about it."

"Did you just read my mind?" Viessa asked, completely ignoring the second part. Telepaths were so annoying.

"No, I can tell what you're thinking by the look on your face," he told her.

"Oh, sure." Viessa knew Mr. Forkle was lying. She was a good detective. When she was younger she would always go on detective practices with her dad around the property. Viessa missed those fun times from when she was younger. Viessa guessed that she got the detective job in the Black Swan because she was good at it. She usually got these types of jobs and she had to do them alone of course.

Suddenly, the Moonlark walked in, "Mr. Forkle, Can you—" she stopped.

"Hey Essa!" she greeted, smiling. She was usually always with her friends and so when Viessa saw her alone she was surprised.

Viessa just waved and took a small step back.

"Mr. Forkle, can you get us—" Sophie started but Mr. Forkle interrupted.

"Everything will be on hold, Miss Foster. Just take your time to relax while Miss. Elvyre investigates." he told her.

"But—" Sophie glared at Viessa. Viessa didn't want Sophie hating her but there was nothing she could do. She was in a higher position in the Black Swan than the Moonlark herself. She had two abilities, Polyglot and Psionipath, and she also had a photographic memory which was even more powerful than the Moonlark's photographic memory. Viessa was also really good at sword fighting.

"Miss. Foster, just because Miss. Elvyre is in a higher position than you doesn't mean you can hate her. Has she not done all she can to help you and your friends?" Mr. Forkle asked her.

Sophie grumbled something under her breath and started to walk away.

"Miss Foster, this is not a time to get angry at others. Miss. Elvyre will be going to investigate a death scene soon and it is best if everything else is on hold. Do you not understand how serious this is?" Mr. Forkle sighed and mumbled something that started with you kids.

"A death scene?" Sophie gasped and stared at Viessa with surprise.

"Yeah, that's what Mr. Forkle said," she whispered quietly. Viessa was very shy when she had to talk to others but at least Sophie wasn't mad at her like a few minutes ago.

"Who died?" Sophie demanded.

"A councilor," he replied slowly.

"Wait, what? A councillor?" Both girls shouted in unison. A councillor had died? That was going to be a very big deal in the Lost Cities.

"Yes, a Councillor," Mr. Forkle repeated.

"Why didn't you bother to tell us before?" both girls demanded.

"I didn't want to tell anyone before I saw it with my own eyes," he told them.

"Which one?" Sophie asked.

"What? Oh, I can't tell you, Miss Foster. The council will be discussing this later with you."

"But—" Sophie started.

"I'm sorry but I can't tell you now," he actually looked sorry.

"Fine," Sophie spat and actually walked out of the room looking even more mad at Viessa. Viessa wanted to be friends with Sophie and her friends but that would never ever happen.

"You kids are always so emotional," Mr. Forkle sighed.

"Hey, I'm not!" Viessa protested, her blue eyes scanning him.

"You are always an exception Miss. Elvyre." Mr. Forkle smiled and Viessa suspected that he was thinking of the time when she had done extremely well on her Mutispeices exam which was what got her into the Black Swan in the first place. Most of the time Viessa didn't want to be an exception. She was trying so hard to actually fit in. But when Mr. Forkle called her an exception, she was proud. Proud to be the one who could save the world. Proud to be the one that has such a high position to help others.

They were getting off-topic and Viessa was eager to start her investigating.

"Can I start the investigation now?" she asked.

"Yes, you may," Mr. Forkle pulled out a leaping crystal from his cape pocket and handed it to Viessa. "Investigate wisely."

She quickly lept to wherever the leaping crystal was taking her. The councillor was dead for sure and she was covered in bloody red blood. When Viessa took a look at the councilors familiar face she just stood there in shock for a whole two minutes...The dead councillor was Councillor Alina!
