After Kaylessa stopped the hail, she went to sleep immediately, preparing for the emotionally tiring day ahead.
She got up with the sun to shake her dad awake. She was still in her pajamas when she stormed into her dad's house and found him passed out on his couch with a spoon in his hand.
Kaylessa took the spoon away and gently shook him awake. He woke up with a grunt and rolled onto the floor. Kaylessa rolled him onto his back and saw that his closed eyes were red and puffy. She got a glass of water and spilled some on her dad.
He woke up gasping and when he felt the water trickling down his face he finally glanced at Kaylessa. He gave her a sheepish grin and wiped the water from his face. Groaning, he got up and gasped. He held tightly onto Kaylessa's arm as he fought his head rush.
"Dad?" Kaylessa asked. Elion looked at her. "Do you want to go to Atlantis?"
"Why not," Elion said, shrugging. "Let's go." Kaylessa glanced at his stained clothes and mussed-up hair.
"Maybe you should change and shower first," Kaylessa suggested. Her dad sniffed his shirt and sighed.
"You're right," he said as he stalked towards his bedroom. Kaylessa plopped down on the couch and waited for her dad. When he emerged from the bathroom, his hair was clean enough and he was wearing clean clothes so Kaylessa nodded. Good enough, she thought.
"Okay! Let's go!" Kaylessa said enthusiastically to get her blood pumping. Elion huffed, but grasped her arm and held on during the leap. Kaylessa wasn't sure if he was concentrating, so she wrapped her consciousness around him as well and leaped them to the shore.
The wind whipped at her hair and the tang of the saltwater filled her mouth. She opened up the secret rock cabinet and pulled out a bottle. She quickly tossed it into the brewing sea and a hurricane immediately erupted.
Before she could change her mind about the trip, she jumped into the swirling water knowing her dad would follow.
When she landed on the sponge, it stole all the water from her clothes and she quickly scrambled off before her dad could land on her.
When they were both dry, Kaylessa headed towards Claws, Wings, Horns, and Things near the canal front. Her dad trailed after her as she opened the storefront door. The bell on the door jingled merrily. She stepped into the stoor and banged into an elf.
"Ow," Kaylessa muttered as she rubbed her forehead. The elf she crashed into turned around and she saw it was someone from school.
He wore his hair slightly long with dyed silver tips. Shadows swirled around his feet as he glowered down at her.
"Hey, Tam!" Kaylessa said awkwardly.
"Hey, Kaylessa," he murmured. He reached up to tug on one of his bangs.
"What are you doing here?" she asked him. Tam pointed towards the counter where his twin sister, Linh was currently paying for a bag of murcat food.
"Oh," she muttered. Linh finished talking to the cashier and headed towards Tam. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Kaylessa and smiled.
"Kaylessa! What are you doing here?" Linh exclaimed. "It's so wonderful to see you!"
"I was just here to look at stuff," Kaylessa said, beaming back at her. Linh motioned to her bag of murcat food and pointed to the murcat section in the back.
"You should definitely get a pet murcat," Linh suggested. Kaylessa hummed in agreement.
"Well, see you at school!" Linh said, waving goodbye as she forced Tam to open the door as her hands were full.
