Chapter 40 - The Vanishing cabinet

Adrian's dump robes' were floating in front, causing you to cringe and watch him step on the filthy water.

-'Ugh, did the Moaning Myrtle do something stupid again?'

Adrian's concentration was far away from the dirty water in front of him. He was trying to find the vanishing cabinet earlier than Draco, so they wouldn't succeed in fixing it. It was rather a stressful situation, going against Voldemort and doing something he would totally know in the end, but Adrian risked it all for the safety of his loved ones.

Not like he gave up like me..

He was so better in everything, keeping secrets and being calm about any bad things happening. He has a goddamn dark mark on his arm, yet he does this. And i stress over what.

-'What are you two cowards looking for?'

Ray's monotone voice flashed across the hall, making Adrian jump and get his wand out as quick as he could. After realizing it's Ray he huffed and continued his way to find the vanishing cabinet.

-'Oi Y/n, how you doin'?'

-'Uh- i'm okay? I guess?'

He didn't smile much, actually, he never smiled but could lighten up the mood somehow, even when he said something negative. Maybe it was because of the calmness in his voice, or the way he could speak without having a dark expression. He always had a sleepy face.

-'Are your arms okay too?'

Your eyes flashed at him, his eyes looking in front, scratching his neck. Ray had the weirdest habits, maybe this was a small amount, but nobody would stare off in distance, always zoned out, scratching their neck and tapping their foot on the floor. His weird movements and focusing almost reminded you of Luna, who was also this type of a person.

-'How did you-'

-'You two are losers, room of requirement is the best option right now.'

Adrian looked back, his eyes sparkling and running through the hall again, his dump robes still flying in the air. The drops of it flew in the air and one of them hit your face, flinching at the cold contact.

You looked back for Ray, but he was going the opposite way. He always runs off at the worst moments.. Adrian was in front already, probably looking for the room of requirement, but you couldn't decide who to follow. Ray made a lot of things question which should have been answered, but Adrian couldn't do this alone.

Running off to the other side of the hall, Adrian's footsteps were still heard, faintly, but still. He was waiting for the room, noticing you from the corner of his eyes and watching you walk to him.

-'He's been a lot of help. I mean, i would realize this, but late.'

You nodded, leaning against the cold wall and feeling tired, eyes closing without your permission. Body also felt weak, you couldn't control it much, but you still tried to stay awake. Adrian noticed this, walking up to you and placing a hand on your shoulder.

-'Hey, if you're tired you can go..'

His polite and calm voice was a rare thing to happen, mostly teasing and much, but right now he needed help and you knew it.

-'No i'm fine.'

Grabbing the wand from your pocket, you casted a spell and poured water on your face, causing your sleepy eyes to go away for some time.

-'See?'

Adrian nodded and smiled, you smiling back at him and waiting for the room of requirements to open.
