~Just Another Kid (Y/N Harrington x Will Byers)~

One: MADMAX

"Hey Y/N, it's Dustin." Dustin calls me on his walkie.
"Hey!"
"What do you have?" He asks me.
"I have... 10 quarters." I say.
"Where did you get that kind of money?"
"Eh, I asked Steve for it." I respond. I had kind of annoyed him until he gave it to me.
"Steve gave you that money?"
"Yes. Now call Will. I'll see you there. Over and out." I turn my walkie talkie off and toss it on my bed. I smile and put the quarters in my pocket.
"Y/N." My mom says as I walk out the door.
"Yes mom?" I ask.
"Here's some quarters for the arcade." She smiles and hands me 5 of them. My mouth drops open.
"Thank you mom!"
"Of course sweetie, be careful." She pulls me into a hug and kisses the top of my head. I mean I thought I was lucky with Steve giving me 6 dollars worth of quarters but then my mom gave me five more! I jump on my bike and head to the arcade.

I park my bike when I hear a car honk. It's Mrs. Byers dropping off Will.
"Hey!" Lucas smiles.
"Hi!" I wave.
"To slay the magic dragon, use the magic sword." The lady, Princess Daphne on screen points to a sword.
"Oh Jesus! I'm in uncharted territory here, guys." Dustin sighs.
"Down down down!" We all shout.
"I'm going! I'm going!" We all shout directions at Dustin.
"Okay shut up. Shut up!" Dustin yells over our clamoring. The character he was controlling then died. "No. No. No! I hate this over priced bullshit." He kicks the machine. "Son of a bitch! Piece of shit."
"Your just not nimble enough, But you'll get there one day. But until then, Princess daphne is mine."
"Whatever, I'm still tops on Centipede and Dig dug."
"Are you sure about that?" Keith, an employee at the arcade asks while eating a cheese puff.
"What do you mean?" Dustin asks. He takes off to one of the arcade machines.
"You're kidding me no no no no. Move! Move! No no no no no! Hey! No no no!" He shouts going between the two arcade games.
"751,300 points?" Will says beside me.
"That's impossible!" Mike looks at the machine in shock. I shrug I mean the times I had tried the games they had been really easy.
"Who's MADMAX?"
"Better than you." Dustin sticks his middle finger up at Keith.
"Is it you?" Will asks.
"You know I despise dig dug." Keith rolls his eyes.
"Then who is it?" I inquire.
"Yeah, spill it, Keith."
"You want information then I need something in return." Keith says. The boys looks at me. Will steps in front of me protectively.
"I wasn't talking about her you wasteoids!"
"No no no no way! Your not getting a date with her." Mike argues protecting his sister.
"Mike come on just get him the date!"
"I'm not prostituting my sister!"
"But it's for a good cause."
"No you know what? Don't get him the date. He's going to spread that nasty ass rash to your whole family."
"Acne isn't a rash and it isn't contagious you prepubescent wastoid!" I continue to listen to them argue until I see Will walk outside.
"Will?" I ask following him. He turns to me.
"Do you see it too?" I look out to the sky where he was looking at. I close my eyes and reopen them. In front of us is a giant monster that looks like a shadow in the sky. I stare at the shadow that can be see through lightning. Around us it what looks like the Upside Down. I look at Will in terror.
"Will? Y/N are you okay?" Mike asks coming outside. We both get snapped out of what we were seeing. Will looks back to the sky for a moment.
"Yeah. I just- I needed some air." He says.
"Come on. Will your up next on Dig Dug." Mike says wrapping his arm around our shoulders. Will and I make scared eye contact but continue to walk. "Let's take that top score back huh?"

I walk up to Will where he pulls something out of his locker.
"What's that?" I ask looking at the paper in Will's hands.
"Uh nothing." He says trying to put it in his pocket. I grab the paper lightly from his hands.
I read what it says on it. 'Zombie Boy.' I ball up my fist.
"Look Will, they have no idea what happened, okay. Don't listen to them." I say. I rip the paper up and throw it at someone snickering nearby. "Come on let's go to class." I smile taking his hand.

"Meet the human brain. I know it doesn't look like much. A little gross even right? But consider this, there are a hundred billion cells inside of this miracle of evolution. All working as one. No no no no I did not misspeak. I did not stutter. A hundred billion." Mr. Clarke teaches. The principal and a girl with red hair walks inside the classroom. "Ah. This must be our new student."
"Indeed it is. She's all yours." The principal smiles before.
"All right hold up there you don't get away that easy." Mr. Clarke stops the girl from walking and sitting down. "Come on up. Don't be shy. Dustin,drum roll. All the way from sunny California we have the latest passenger on our curiosity voyage Maxine!"
"It's Max." Max corrects.
"Sorry?"
"No one calls me Maxine it's Max."
"MADMAX." Lucas whispers.
"Oh, well all aboard Max." I wave to Max as she sits down.

I sit against the baseball dugout wall while watching the boys stalk Max.
"There's no way that's Max." Mike watches Max skate down from the school.
"Yea girls don't play video games." Will says.
"Will seriously?" I ask.
"I mean you do. I guess I meant most." Will stammers.
"And even if more did they can't get 750,000 points on DigDug!" I roll my eyes at Mike's comment it was a pretty easy game.
"Y/N!" Dustin turns to me.
"Dustin."
"Can you go talk to her for us." Dustin asks me.
"I'm not a service!" I say.
"Come on its for a good cause." Lucas adds.
"Fine." I get up from my seat and walk over to her. "Hi, I'm y/n." I say holding my hand out for Max to shake. She looks behind me to the party. "Those are my friends. There mad because you beat them on a few arcade games." I laugh at them.
"You mean digdug and centipede?" She asks.
"Yea." I nod my head. She smiles. "They are so easy!" I add to my previous statement.
"I agree. Well, you seem way cooler than your stalker friends." She shakes my hand. "Come on let's go." She says walking back up the stairs to the school. I follow her and stick my tongue out to them. Max drops a paper in the garbage can.
"What was that?" I ask her.
"A test." Max explains. I go to walk in behind her but see the boys running up to the trash can. I roll my eyes.
"See you!" I wave as she walks inside. I walk down the steps while Dustin digs through the trash.
"Got it!" He says.
"Stop spying on me creeps." The group says. I stifle a laugh.
"Well shit."
"William Byers?" The principal come up to us.
"Your mom is here to pick you up."
"Bye Will." I wave. Will walks out to his moms car.
"You think he's quiet?"
"He's always quiet when he goes in."
