~Just Another Kid (Y/N Harrington x Will Byers)~

Nine: The Gate

"El?" I say as a punk-looking Eleven comes in the door.
"Eleven."
"Y/N. Mike." Mike and I walk up to her and she captures me in a hug. I let tears fall this time.
"I missed you sis." I say. "I really really did. I even tried to teleport to you." I wipe a tear from my face.
"I missed you too." She smiles as I pull away.
"Is that..?" I hear Max ask. Eleven hugs Mike next.
"I never gave up on you. I called you every night. Every night. For-."
"365 days. I heard."
"Why didn't you tell me you were there? Tell me you were okay?"
"Because I wouldn't let her." Hopper says stepping towards us.
"The hell is this? Where've you been?" Hopper asks El.
"Where have you been?" They hug for a moment.
"Youve been hiding her." Mike and I say at the same time.
"You've been hiding her this whole time." Mike shoves Hopper.
"You made her block me out!" I yell.
"Hey! Let's talk." Hopper grabs both of our arms. "Alone."
"Protecting her? Protecting her." Mike yells.
"She's my sister!" I yell.
"Listen. Listen to me." Hopper says. "The more people the more danger she's in. And the more danger you and your families are in."
"So I should be thanking you?" Mike screams.
"We couldn't even visit her?" I yell too.
"I'm not asking you to thank me. I'm asking you to understand."
"I don't! I don't understand!" Mike yells.
"That's fine! That's fine! Just don't blame her."
"Why would we blame her?" I exclaim.
"All right. She's upset enough as it is."
"I blame you! I blame you!" Mike screams.
"That's okay kid. That's okay."
"No, it's not okay! We could have just made an excuse and gone to visit her. She's my sister!" I cry. Mike goes up to Hopper and starts punching him while I ball up my fists.
"Oh, jeez-"
"Youre a stupid, disgusting, lying piece of shit!" Mike screams.
"Okay. All right. Stop it."
"Liar! Liar!"
"Stop it! It's okay!"
"Liar. Liar." Mike cries. Hopper hugs him and opens his arms for me. Even though I don't want to I accept it.
"You're okay kids. You're okay. I'm sorry."
"It's not like it was before. It's grown. A lot. I mean, that's considering we can get in there. The place is crawling with those dogs."
"Demo-dogs."
"Im sorry what?"
"I said uh demo-dogs. Like demogorgon,dogs. You out them together, it sounds pretty badass—."
"How is this important right now?"
"Its not. Im sorry."
"We can do it." I say standing beside El.
"Youre not hearing me."
"We're hearing you. We can do it." Eleven says.
"Even if they can theres still another problem." Mike sighs. "If the brain dies, the body dies."
"I thought that was the whole point." Max's face scrunches up in confusion.
"It is, but if we're really right about this.. I mean, if they close the gate and kill the mind flayers army.."
"Will could die. He's apart of that army." I whisper in shock.
"Closing the gate will kill him." We all walk into Will's bedroom.
"He likes it cold." Joyce says.
"What?"
"It's what Will kept saying to me. He likes it cold." Joyce walks over to the window and closes it. "We keep giving it what it wants.
"If this is a virus and Will's the host, then.." Nancy starts.
"Then we need to make the host uninhabitable." Jonathan finishes looking at his brother.
"So if he likes it cold."
"We need to burn it out of him." Joyce says.
"We need to do it somewhere he doesn't know this time." Mike says.
"Yeah, somewhere far away." Dustin agrees. Hopper picks up Will and leads the little exercism group outside.
"Be careful Y/N." Steve comes up to me before I go outside.
"I will."
"Hey, and you can tell me anything alright? You never told me about Eleven."
"I know. I promise I will." I say.
"Okay." He says as I walk outside.
"Just be careful alright? I can't lose you again." Mike says to El.
"You won't lose me." Eleven says.
"Do you promise?"
"Promise." Eleven says. I look away as they go to kiss.
"El..y/n come on let's go. It's time." Hopper interrupts them.
"Are you serious?" I whisper as I walk past him to the back seat. I wave to everyone as we take off. After a long at least five minutes of silence Hopper speaks.
"So what we're just not gonna talk about it huh?" Hopper asks El. She turns her head to him.
"About what?"
"Oh I don't know. I'm just curious you know, why all of a sudden you look like some kind of MTV punk. I'm not mad, kid. I just want to know where you've been. That's all."
"To see Mama and my Aunties." She says. I guess she means Auntie by my biological mom.
"Okay. How did you get there?" He asks.
"A truck."
"A truck?"
"A big truck."
"A big truck? Whose truck was it?"
"A man's."
"A man's?"
"A nice man." She says. I look at her concerned. Hopper must be living every parents worst nightmare right now.
"Okay. So let me just get this straight in my head. So a nice man in a big truck, he drove your mama's and then what? Your Aunt Becky or Aunt Lidia gave you these clothes and that makeup?"

"I.. I shouldn't have left." She says.
"Mm-mm. No. No this isn't on you kid. I should've been there." He pauses to look through his rearview mirror. "And I shouldn't have lied." He says to me. I smile lightly. I was still mad at him but at least he wasn't forgetting me.  He looks back on the road."I should never have lied to you about your mom. Or about when you could leave. A lot of things I shouldn't have done. Sometimes I feel like I'm.. like I'm just some kind of black hole or something."
"A black hole?"
"Yeah it's a..you know it's this thing in outer space. It's like it sucks everything towards it and destroys it. Sarah had a picture book about outer space. She loved it." I raise my eyebrows.
"Who's Sarah?" El asks.
"Sarah? Sarah's my girl. She's my little girl."
"Where is she?" El asks again.
"Well that's kind of the thing kid. She uh.. She left us."
"Gone." Eleven says.
"Yeah." Hopper nods. "The black hole. It got her. And somehow.. I've just been scared you know? I've just been scared that it would take you too. I think that's why I get.. so mad. I'm so sorry. To both of you. For everything. I could be so..so."
"Stupid?" El asks.
"Yeah. Stupid." Hopper laughs. "Just really stupid." El reaches for my hand and then holds Hoppers placing mine on top.
"I've been stupid too."
"I guess we broke our rule. I don't hate it by the way. This whole..look. It's kinda cool."
"Bitchin'." El says. I giggle through tears. They were being so cute.
"Okay. Sure. Bitchin'." Hopper chuckles.
"You guys are so cute you got me tearing up back here." I laugh. We all chuckle through sniffles as we drive to the lab.

Eleven gets out of the car and stares at the lab. I walk up beside her.
"We got this El. I promise." I say taking her hand. "Papas gone. Plus all those people are dead too." I try. She nods. Hopper comes up beside us.
"All right. You let me do the heavy lifting up front all right? You save your strength till we're below." Eleven takes off walking pulling some along.
"Well okay-." I say running after her.
We walk down the hallway. Hopper sees blood on the railing.
"Stay here." He says. I try to distract us.
"I like your outfit El." I whisper. "Where'd you get the clothes though?"
"Sister." She whispers.
"Your biological sister?" I ask.
"No. Eight." She explains.
"You found our sister?"
"Yes." She says. I smile.
"Wow." I smile. I hear Hopper talk again so I pay attention to that.
"Hey, Doc." He sighs. "Those suckers got you pretty good huh? It's okay don't talk. Don't talk. I got you. I got you." El and I walk down the stairs. "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to tell you. This is Eleven. Eleven, Doc Owens. Doc Owens, Eleven. And you already know Y/N. Elevens been staying with me for about a year and they are about to save our asses. Maybe when this is all said and done, maybe you could help Eleven out too you know? Maybe you could help her lead, like a normal life. One where she isn't poked and prodded and treated like soms kind of lab rat you know? And Y/N doesn't have to live in fear that she'll be taken back. I don't know it's just a thought." He tightens the belt he had wrapped around Doctor Owens leg. "But uh, think about it." Dr. Owens nods. Hopper hands him a gun. "Don't go anywhere." Dr. Owens chuckles softly at this since he probably couldn't move. I wave as we continue our journey.
"It looks like the Upside Down in here." I whisper as we reach a lower level. Both Hopper and Eleven nod. I realize that we've all seen the Upside Down.
"Stay here." Hopper says as we hear a creature chitter softly. It reminded me of D'Artagnan.
El and I walk up to Hopper as all the Demodogs run.
"Chief are you there? Do you copy?"
"Yea, I copy."
"Close it." We all walk onto an elevator looking thing in front of the gate. El grabs Hopper and I's hands.

HERE'S ONE OF THE MOMENTS YALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR...

El let's go of Hopper and I's hands and steps forward. I step forward as well. We begin to close the gate. I hear a shriek run by. I close my eyes and focus on closing the gate. I feel the ground beneath me shift and gunshots. I turn around and throw a demodog off the elevator. I have an idea. Another one comes to the platform. Hopper shoots at it.
"Oh shit." Hopper says. They were all climbing up to us.
"Wait a second." I say. I close my eyes. I teleport up to where the demodogs got in to the lab originally. I can see all of the demodogs.
"Rah!" I yell throwing every single one of them to the ground as hard as I could. They weren't all dead but at least the army of them were weaker. I teleport back to the platform. I turn back around to see the shadow monster fighting itself out of the gate. I stick both my hands out and put all of my energy into fighting this thing. El and I were going to beat this thing once and for all. And things will go to how there supposed to be. And then we closed it. We closed the gate. I see my sister drop to the ground and feel myself do the same. I hug her. We beat it. It's over. Hopper joins out hug.
"You did good kids. You did so good."
