Chapter Three: Spy-The-Bottle

Max and I sing along to Angel by Madonna as Eleven sits on her bed looking through magazines.

"Oh you found Ralph Macchio." I say as I look at her.

"Macchio?" El asks.
"He's the karate kid. Hai-yah!" Max imitates him making us laugh. "He's so hot right? I bet he's an amazing kisser too. Hey, uh is Mike a good kisser?" Max asks El.

"I don't know, he's my first boyfriend.."

"Ex-boyfriend." I correct. El slightly sadly looks to the side.

"Hey don't worry about it. Okay?" Max smiles.

"He'll come crawling back to you in no time, begging for forgiveness." I laugh, Max had told me stories about Lucas trying to win her back.

"I guarantee you, him and Lucas are like totally wallowing in self pity and misery right now. They're like 'Oh, I hope they take us back.' God, what I wouldn't give to see their stupid faces!" I see El's face form into an idea. "What is it?"

Eleven sits against her dresser with a blindfold on. Eleven was going to go into her void to see what the boys where doing. I let her do it since it was her idea.

"Is this really gonna work?" Max asks. El and I nod. "Holy shit, this is insane!"

"Max." El says.

"Yeah right quiet sorry." Max mumbles. After a moment El speaks again.

"I see them."

"What are they doing?" Max asks.

"Eating......They say we are 'species."

"What?" Max and I question at the same time.

" 'Emotion, not logic.' " She repeats. "..........Will says they broke up with you." After a moment she rips the blindfold off and starts laughing.

"What happened?" I ask as Eleven laughs. Just then we hear a car pull up.

"Hey! Hey! When I say three inches-." Hopper opens the door aggressively.

"Do you knock?" I ask.

"Jeez!" Max adds.

"Yeah, jeez." El says.

"Oh, hey. I'm sorry. I thought that, uh--."

"Mike's not here." Max states.

"Y/N and Max wanted to have... a sleepover. Is that...okay?" El asks.

"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do your parents know about it?" Hopper questions. I nod my head.

"Yup." Max says.

"Uh, yeah, it's cool. Yeah. That's-that's really cool."

"Okay can you leave?" I ask.

"Uh-yeah i'll just yeah i'll leave you-."

"Holy shit, I can't beleive we're really doing this." Max says as we plan out a spy-the bottle. Spin the bottle but instead we spy on people. "Ready?"

"Ready." El and I say at the same time. El spins the bottle. It lands on Mr. Wheeler.

"Mr. Wheeler." We all say.

"He's probably asleep." I roll my eyes.

"Spin again." Max says.

"Against the rules?" El asks.

"We make our own rules." Max smiles. I spin this time. It lands on Billy.

"Billy." We say.

"Okay, look, I should just warn you, if he's with a girl or doing something gross, just get out of there right away before you're scarred for life." Max warns us before grabbing El's walkie.

"Max-"

"i'm serious he's really gross."

"Max!"

"Okay, shutting up now." El hands me the blindfold, it was my turn since she had spied on the boys earlier. I place the blindfold on and focus on the sound of static. Soon I arrive in the void in front of a car. I raise my eyebrows slightly confused.
"Billy?" I ask walking slowly up to a car. The front window is cracked. I look into the windows seeing nothing. Hearing a soft whimper I brace myself even though no one could hurt me. I wish Will was with me. He was so much braver than me. Continuing to walk I see the hood of the trunk is popped open. I stare inside nothing is there.
"I found him." I say. He kneels in front of someone. Hearing muffled whimpers I cautiously walk up. I didn't want to see anything bad.  I decide to  announce what he's doing.
"He's kneeling in front of someone."
"Don't be afraid." Billy's voice says.
"He says Don't be afraid." I repeat. "I-it'll be over soon." I shakily keep walking not wanting to see something gross.
"Just stay very still." He says. Billy stands up and turns around. I swear he looks right at me. I rip the blindfold off scared for my life.
"He-he looked right at me." I say eyes widened.
