-Happy New Year !!!!- Those are the words that start everyone's new year, for me, it started in the worst possible way. I am in Hawaii with all my family, away from my friends and my home. I used to live here, but because of my dad's work, we had to move to New York, my whole family lives here and they are all Christians. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but in these type of gatherings, instead of dancing and enjoying the event, they pray. My older siblings, my cousin Laura, and I are the only ones who hate these kinds of gatherings.

Instead of spending this moment with my family, I was making a video call with Bella and Mati who were at a party with almost the entire school. Being with them was the only thing that made this moment special for me.

I had to hang up with them because the service was starting, obviously I have to go. Although my dad is the one who preaches, I didn't want to listen, so I backed up and didn't pay attention to it. In the middle of the service, when I was falling asleep, Carlos touched my shoulder and motioned for us to leave the place.

-What do you want Carlos?- I asked as if I was interested in continuing in the meeting, but I preferred to stay out there... and he knew it. -You should thank me Mily, the girls didn't wanted to invite you, but I insisted that you should have some fun on the first day of the year.- Bianca and Laura saw me happily -We're going to a party a few blocks from here, a lot of people from the neighborhood are going to go, some your age. You going?- I felt my conscience telling me that my parents would be angry with me, that they would punish me and that it was against the principles of God, I threw that thought to the farthest reaches of my brain and I agreed to go to the party.

This day was finally getting good, it was time to experience some adrenaline. I know the vast majority of people here so I didn't get bored, between talking to a lot of people, dancing and eating, I had a great time. Carlos took me out to dance, it was a really good song so it was a lot of fun. We went to the center of the dance floor and began to dance and jump as if no one was seeing us. When the songs were over, I didn't even feel my feet.

We went to get something to drink, we saw Bianca kissing with Alex, he is her boyfriend hidden from my parents because the three of us are not allowed to have a partner. -I think I'm good without the drink- I told Carlos, I was getting uncomfortable there- I'll go find Laura. I went out and Carlos started talking to a girl from the party, I guess they knew each other.

I went out to look for my cousin, on the way I met the hostess of the party, she was very drunk from what I could see. -Esmeralda, hi!!- My name is Emily, but she is so drunk that it surprises me that she has not passed out yet-

-Hi Vero, what a good party- I said shouting because the music started.

-I know!- She said laughing -Come, join me- She said taking my arm.

When we arrived a boy about my age offered me a beer, I said no thanks, but instantly I became curious: What does it taste like? My parents are not here, they will not know, although, I am not old enough to drink, If I take one, it won't hurt me, right? Anyway, after a lot of curiosity, I got carried away and received the glass. At first it seemed bitter to me, it is obvious that I made a funny face because everyone started laughing, I kept drinking and in the end I liked the taste of it. So I ordered another round, in total it was 5 rounds, but it was incredible.

I remembered that I was "looking for my cousin" so I went looking for her, staggering because I couldn't see well. I hitted chairs, tables, people and I even threw someone's beer. I couldn't find her anywhere, I went looking around the dance floor. I tried to look for her, or at least recognize her face in some of the people who were dancing, but I couldn't find her. I saw a face that seemed familiar to me, it was off the track, I went over to make sure who it was and my eyes couldn't believe it, it was... Simon. What is he doing here?

A slow song played on the dance floor, he turned to look at me and smiled at me. -May I have this piece, miss?- I managed to say yes, he took my hand and led me to the center of the dance floor, he put my hands on his neck and he put his on my waist, I leaned on his shoulder and let myself be carried away by the smell of his delicious perfume and the music.

I could not understand what was happening, but I promised myself that I would never forget that precious moment between him and me. A few minutes later my siblings and my cousin arrived and took me to the car, they mentioned something about our parents or something like that. It's the last thing I remember before I fainted.

I wake up and find myself in my room. -Oh, my head hurts- I said covering myself with the blanket.

-It was an incredible night, don't you think?-

-Ugh yes, it was incredible...- At that moment I realized. My conscience began to weigh more and more as a word came out of my mouth. -Father?-

-I thought you wouldn't realize it Emily- my dad said taking off the blanket of my head. He never calls me Emily, just when he's mad at me.

-I'm so sorry dad, I wanted to go out and...-

-Silence, how can you do this to your mom and to me, you know what God thinks about this and what the bible says about it..........- While he was speaking and giving me his sermon, I remembered the beautiful moment that I lived with Simon at the party. -... So you're grounded, without your cell phone till the end of the vacation-

-Yes sir- I handed over my cell phone and acted as if it hurt, but I don't really care, the trip is over in 2 days, my friends must be playing or at the movies for the weekend so they won't miss me that much.

After the trip they gave me back my cell phone, I told Bella by video call what happened with Simon, I think she was more excited than I was. A week later I went to a church camp. It is usually quite boring, but there is Kate, a classmate from school who attends my church, she makes it a little less tedious.

I wasn't counting for the tragedy to happen in the camp.
