Chapter 47

"I understand Hotch. You two take all the time you need. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll be fine. Okay. You too" Rossi just finished the phone call when Strauss came in

"Have you heard from Aaron?" She asked

"He sounds like he hadn't slept" Rossi informed her with a sigh

"Do you think he's alright?"

"Jacks having some problems. Emily was up all night with him. Apparently he was to scared to close his eyes, afraid that she wouldn't be there when he woke up"

"Well it's been a year since..." she trailed off
"Well I'm glad their finally taking some time off" Strauss added

"Are you?" Rossi asked sceptically

"I am" the woman replied, sitting down and crossing her legs

"Do not ruin this for them Erin" Rossi warned meaning forward

"I won't David"

"Right. What can I do for you" he said

"Jack. Buddy please, I'll be right down the hall. Okay? No one is going to hurt me" Emily said trying to remove Jacks death grip from her hand

"Mommy please. No." Jack cried digging his fingers into her skin

"Jack. I'm just going to the bathroom. I'll be back before you know it" Emily tried but the boy still didn't budge

"Promise you'll come back" Jack questioned in a broken whisper. One that broke Emily's heart

"I'll always come back" she promised
Taking one last look at the boy on the couch ,who was clutching his teddy bear tightly Emily walked down the hallway and shut the bathroom door behind her

She had told Aaron to take Layla out for the day, so she could talk to Jack. She hasn't gotten any progress and he would be home soon

Taking a deep breath as she leaned against the door, Emily ran her hands through her hair.
She thought about the boy that was waiting for her to return back to him and she instantly felt guilty for taking a moment to breath. Shaking her head she turned and opened the door, he eyes softened when Jack look up from the carpet and met her eyes when the door opened

"I thought you were watching minions" Emily said picking the 5 year old up

"I wanted to make sure you're okay" he whispered into her hair

"Buddy you have to listen to me okay?"she said as she sat him down on the couch, he immediately crawled into her lap when she sat next to him

"Jack. I understand that you are worried, but honey" Emily started but stopped and looked at the sweet boy that she called her son that was sitting in her lap. Running her hands through his messy hair she held him close before continuing to speak
"But, nothing is going to happen to me. The bad guy is gone and no one is ever going to hurt me. I promise"

"Are you sure?" He asked wearily

"I'm sure"

"How?"

"Because I have my Super Jack to protect me" Emily said and started tickling him

Aaron walked into his house, with Layla on his hip to the sound of Jack laughing hysterically. It was a much better sound than he heard as he left the house earlier.

"What's going on here?" He asked as he set a squirming Layla down

"Daddy you gotta help me" Jack informed his father between staggered breaths

"Copy that" Aaron smiled quickly removing Jack from his wife's grip
As soon as the boy was free, all three of them jumped the woman who should of known better.

Emily squirmed, laughing loudly as her two children and husband tickled her.
"Okay okay okay. I give up" she said trying to catch her breath

Sitting up she brought Layla closer to her.
"How was your day bunny?" Emily asked pulling the girl to her lap and kissed her cheek

"Missed you mama" the girl giggled and hugged her mom

"Hey no fair" Jack exclaimed, suddenly jealous of all the attention his little sister was getting

"Come here you" Emily told him opening her arm up for him

The boy immediately complied and hurried to cuddle into the woman's side.

"You too boss man" Emily mocked when Aaron hung his head staring at his feet

"Can we watch a movie?" Jack asked after a long period of silence, they were all just cuddled together

"Only if it's Back to the Future" Emily answered

"Uhh" Jack and Layla groaned and pushed themselves up running to the playroom

Laughing Emily moved closer to her husband

"I'll watch it with you" Aaron told her, while trailing light kisses up her neck

"You're such a suck up" she replied leaning back into him

"Mmm, you like it though"

"I do"

"I know what else you like" he smiled into her her neck when goosebumps formed

"I like that idea, but" Aaron groaned when he heard the 'but' and when she pushed of the couch and walked towards the kitchen

"But, I'm going to start dinner"
"I'll make it up to you" she added

"I like the sound of that" he smiled wider

"I know you do" Emily smiled back a winked at him

He knew that if either Dave or Morgan saw him right now they would say he was 'whipped'. Shaking his head at the idea he looked at Emily before going to play with their children.
