"Where are they?" I asked Sam when we took our usual seats at lunch. So far, Brayden and Charlotte were nowhere to be seen.

"I don't know." Sam sat across from me. My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket.

"Hey sorry, Charlotte and I have to eat lunch at book club because of this extra credit project. It should be done in a week. Maybe you could join us since you are part of the group." I read the text from Brayden aloud.

"I don't think I could join." I told Sam and stuffed my phone back in my pocket. I explained how Leon forbade me from signing up and how I eventually did but was barred from actually showing up until next quarter.

"Sounds complicated." Sam joked.

"Yeah." I agreed. Sam took another bite of his sandwich and slid his eyes over to me.

"Hey, can I show you something?" He suddenly asked.

"Sure." I smiled. Sam picked up his tray. He led us straight out the doors.

"Sam, where are we going?" I couldn't help my excitement and picked up the pace.

"Over here, quick." He smirked and jumped down a slope, and ducked against a tree, me following suit. We both plopped down laughing, leaning against the biggest oak tree I've seen. I put my lunch tray on top of my knees. The school wall was in front of us, and the slight slope was behind us, giving us plenty of privacy. Plus the tree was a solid seat.

"Hey, this is cozy!" I nuzzled myself into the tree. Sam bit into his sandwich.

"I know, sometimes you just want to-" And the rest was gurgled. I laughed.

"You wanna repeat that?"

"Sorry," he swallowed with a grin, "sometimes you just want to get away." He said.

"Oh I completely agree..." I trailed off, watching the melted snow drop off the building. I shivered. Surprisingly, it was dry where we sat, but God it was still cold.

"Oh sorry I-"

"No, no, it's fine Sam, really." I cut him off, stuffing my hands in my pockets. "I want to get away too, even if I have to freeze to do it." We sit in silence for a minute, eating our lunch.

"I can't even get this much peace at the mote- home." He quickly cleared his throat. Before I could ask he continued. "Dean is always trying to bring a girl over." He shook his head and I chuckled.

"That must be annoying."

"It is!" He did his best impression of all the ladies falling for him and I nearly choked on my sandwich.

"Oh my god!" I wiped the tears from my face. "I don't think I've ever actually seen him in the halls, he's probably too busy kissing face."

"Ew, gross." Sam cringed.

"Um, Sam?"

"Yeah?"

"The uh... 'motel'? I prodded. He paused. "Do you-"

"It's just temporary." He blurted. "With my dad moving and all." I nodded slowly. Leon's idiotic notion that John Winchester was somehow a robber, and his sons were his accomplices? Pfft.

"I'm sorry, that must be incredibly difficult..."

"It's alright, Yulia, really... I'm used to it... And I get to meet amazing people like you." He smiled. I returned the gesture and scooted a little closer so we were just touching.

"It's a little cold." I attempted to reason shyly.

"Here." He tugged off his jacket and draped it around my shoulders.
