"Sometimes the system goes on the blink. And the whole thing, it turns out wrong."- Daniel Foster, Bad Day
Chapter Five
-"HANTA SERO YOU better have a valid explanation for that crap you just pulled on me!" She glowered into the phone as soon as it went into voicemail.
She was currently stomping outside the restaurant, fleeing the scene as her blind date continuously exploded the area for absolutely no reason.
He didn't even notice her leave!
He just exploded her and went haywire! He's destructive! And that's big coming from Hakai whose name is the literal definition of that word.
"I swear to God! Is this for that time I called you duct tape?!" She babbled on, angry tears filling her vision as she crossed the busy street absentmindedly.
"Mark my words Hanta Sero, because of this crap you pulled, I will never let another man in my life! You hear me?! Never and I mean never-"
"HEY! WATCH OUT!"
When she heard the warning, it was too late. She looked to her right and saw a public fare bus running towards her at full speed.
Her eyes widened as she froze in place. Her mind blacked out as she clamped her eyes shut, awaiting the heavy impact.
But it never came.
Instead, she was pulled into a warm embrace, her head snuggled right into the crook of a person's warm neck.
Before she could comprehend what she was doing, she threw her arms around her savior, deeming her as her hero of the day.
And then the angry tears came again.
She sobbed into the person's shoulder, not caring if they were a complete stranger to her. She hadn't even pulled back to see their face. Not that she cared. What mattered was that they saved her.
"Hey, it's okay. You're okay now." The person tried to comfort her, though his tone was blank.
"W-Why?" She angrily quipped. "I don't deserve this."
"What do you mean?" The person asked her. "You don't deserve to be saved?"
"No, not that." She lightly pulled away, still not looking at her savior. But she kept her hands planted on his chest for support as her body was lightly sore from being exploded minutes earlier.
"Thank you for saving me, by the way. I owe you one."
"But it's.." She trailed off.
She looked at her white cargo pants that were lightly stained by the ashes from the fancy table she sat on earlier. Her top was also partly exploded, showing a lot of skin, but she didn't care. At least it wasn't burnt to a crisp.
"My cousin pulled a stupid prank on me. And I didn't know he'd take it this far. I genuinely thought he was being kind to me, but turns out, maybe it was payback for something I did to him a long time ago."
"Mhm." Her savior hummed.
And that was the time she decided to look up.
Her breath hitched and her heart decided that it was the best time to beat as fast as the drums on a heavy metal song.
White and red hair.
The half and half from the coffee shop earlier.
"It's you." They both said at the same time, eyes widened.
