"We can only learn to love by loving."
Chapter Eleven
-SHŌTA AIZAWA WAS already in his sleepwear, but was forced to go outside to look for the two loitering students who hadn't come back from eating dinner outside yet.
He'd heard from Shinso that Hakai was at the cafe near the school so that's where he was generally headed, along with the soba shop he frequently saw Todoroki in.
To say that he was relieved that the two came back together was an understatement. He had to walk half a mile to get halfway through the school already, he didn't want to do any more walking by looking for them.
Todoroki only looked at Aizawa-sensei with his brows knitted together in confusion. Then, he realized just then that they were halfway inside UA high, and he brought Hakai, an outsider with him.
Todoroki was about to apologize profusely when the girl of the hour spoke for herself.
"Gomen, Aizawa-sensei. I got lost on my way back earlier, and got hungry. I didn't know whether or not my share was already included for the food prepared tonight, so I figured I'd just go back outside to eat dinner."
Aizawa-sensei's eyes narrowed at her. He was worried. Really worried about her well-being. With the real reason for her transfer still hidden, he couldn't show his worry to the students or her, so being strict about school rules was his way to go, even if he was typically always chill.
"Don't go out wandering on your own. Go with someone next time." He scolded her. "I heard that Kaminari offered to walk with you, but you turned him down. Next time, don't."
She just nodded, wanting the conversation to be over.
"And you." Aizawa-sensei turned to look towards Todoroki whose eyes were glued to Hakai's frame, completely in the dark of this whole situation.
"Good job finding her." He nodded as thanks and then turned away, walking ahead of them.
Todoroki still stood frozen in place, until Hakai poked his shoulder, effectively snapping him out of his trance.
"How do you know him?" He asked Hakai as they walked behind Aizawa-sensei.
She looked at him with a shrug, "He's my homeroom teacher."
Todoroki blinked, halting in his footsteps, "What?"
His heartbeat quickened, thoughts taking over his mind at the idea of Hakai actually being in the same class as him.
"I thought you said you didn't go to UA." He reasoned, remembering what the girl said the night before.
She pursed her lips, looking at the stars in the sky. "I didn't."
"I didn't know I was going to UA until after I got home last night." She told him the story.
"I used to go to Shiketsu-"
Todoroki froze at the mention of the school, before Hakai continued.
"But yesterday, apparently, they called my parents saying that they transferred me here, to further expand my studies and experience."
The half-n-half boy nodded in understanding, digesting the information quickly. "I see."
"It seems that you're my classmate." He continued, his voice low.
The half-n-half girl looked at him, warmth spreading through her heart. She wanted to squeal, but kept it in, not wanting to be out of character. Instead of letting out a squeal and a giddy smile, all that came from her lips was a simple, "Oh."
The rest of the walk back to the dorms was quiet.
It didn't take long before she was once again in front of her dorm room. She glanced to her right, and to her surprise, Todoroki was there in front of the room next door as well. They were dorm neighbors.
She blinked, "Is that your...?"
He glanced at his door before he gave her a soft smile. "Yes."
She nodded and then looked away. She turned her key and was about to go inside when Todoroki's voice stopped her.
"Listen, Hakai."
She halted mid-step. She turned around to face him. Their heterochromatic eyes met, and she swears she could feel electricity shooting through her arms right at the moment they gazed upon each other.
"Hmm?" She hummed, not being able to form words at the sound of Todoroki's voice saying her name.
"I like your presence." Shoto Todoroki admitted, a faint blush covering his cheeks.
"Would you like to hang out and get to know each other further?"
Hakai was stunned for a moment, before she chuckled lightly at the guy's formality. She'd never encountered a guy as blunt as him.
She smiled when the half-n-half looked up at her. "Sure, Todoro-"
"Shoto." He cut her off, his heterochromatic cerulean and gray eyes knocking the wind out of her.
"Call me Shoto." A small smile graced his lips.
She could swear her heart was beating ten miles per hour right now. But she bit her lip to keep her giddy squeal in.
"Sure. Let's hang out, Shoto."
