Chapter 1

After an unexpected presentation at Emma's family day, and Natalia departing quickly, Olivia went in search of her favorite drink and a look at the merchandise to ensure she was not feeling what she knew in her heart she was most defiantly feeling for her best friend. After a few drinks and a nice look or two she headed home.

Sitting in the living room waiting for Natalia she let her mind wander to a place she was afraid to venture. She had known for awhile now that what she feels for her roommate is far more then friendship. She had known since the day she gave up the job of her dreams with Galaxy to get Natalia back her $80,000. As her mind wandered into the very real love she felt for her lovely assistant, she felt an ache deep in her heart. This was an unfamiliar feeling for Olivia. Not the love itself, but the feeling of despair in knowing it could never be. She was startled out of her musing with the arrival of Natalia.

"Hey," Natalia said with a small smile upon entering the living room from the kitchen. "I thought that you'd still be at the school."

"Emma had to go back to class and then she has a playdate with Derek."

"Awe he's a cutie. Maybe we'll be dancing at their wedding someday."

"Ah Mrs. Jennings would love to see that." Olivia replied with a wry smile.

"Huh?"

"Nothing, Nothing. How was um, how was Frank? Was he Helpful?" Olivia asked, leaning back in her chair trying not to let her thoughts show on her face.

"Uh, I just hated it, having to ask him for another favor." Natalia stated with exasperation in her voice.

"Why, why he, he's crazy about you the whole damsel in distress thing, I mean it's...no guy can resist that. Besides you could do worse you know."

"Are you okay?' Natalia asked, concern lining her face.

"Yes, yes..." Olivia replied shaking her head. "So what is he gonna do? Is he gonna transfer Rafe to Cedars or what?"

"He said he would do what he could."

"That's it, that's what he said? You couldn't turn on the charm, you couldn't bat those brown eyes, flash that smile, guys love that Natalia."

Natalia bent to meet Olivia's eyes.

"What?" Olivia questioned with a laugh.

"Wow. What did they put in the punch at school?" Natalia asked smiling as she sat on the couch. "Yeah."

"Oh my... no I stopped by Towers on the way home."

"Uh huh. You couldn't wait to celebrate Emma's big day?"

"Well no, if you must know I was checking out the merchandise."

"Merchandise?"

"Oh I know I'm such a pig. Men, men I went there to check out the guys."

"Kay. Well, you really are feeling a lot better."

"I'm much better, I'm much better. And next time I'll bring you along and Mrs. Jennings and then she can see for herself."

"See What?"

"That we're just a couple of girls doing what girls ......... do." Olivia said trailing off. Standing and walking towards the fire place placing her hands on her hips as she turned back to face Natalia again.

"Is this...is this about Emma's paper?"

"Bingo. Mmmhmm."

"Well it was great. Everyone loved it. The parents loved it, the teachers loved it, the kids loved it they were all smiling."

Olivia cut her off. "Oh, oh, they love it, they loved us, we're diversity."

"Yeah well who cares what they call us. You know, so what we're not mom and dad and spot the dog. We're..."

"You cannot be that naïve. Come on... come on, you had to know what they were thinking. Right? The parents, the teachers, the whole damn school." Olivia said speaking over Natalia.

"No. What were they thinking?"

"Uh I, I, I don't know weather to laugh or cry, I mean come on you had to of seen it."

"Seen what?"

"Seen the way they were looking at us."

"Ugg, there you go again. Emma's presentation was a really big hit, it was great. Okay so she wrote about us being a.... different family."

"Different, I don't think that's the word they were thinking."

"Okay, unconventional."

"Well you keep trying you'll get there."

"Is this because of Rafe and now everyone knows he's in prison because I'm sure people were upset they don't know..."

"No, no this is not about Rafe. This is about us."

"Us?"

"Us, you, me, Tarzan, Jane...Jane, Jane."

"I have no idea what in the worl..."

"They think that we're partners."

"Well we are partners. I mean I work with you at the Beacon, I work with yo..."

"I'm not talking about work."

"I know we're partners at home too. And as soon as you start feeling better you can do some more house work..."

"I'm not talking about vacuuming and dusting."

"You're talking about Emma and how we sorta share her and that really means a lot to me."

"No not that kind of partner. They think that we're close, they think that we're very close. They think that we love each other."

"Well we do. And we may not say it all the time, and I know that we argue about just about everything, but I mean really Olivia, deep down..."

"Do I have to hit you over the head with this." Was the last thing Olivia said before cupping Natalia's face in her hands and kissing her quickly but passionately.

Natalia was completely caught off guard. Olivia kissing her was the very last thing she had expected to happen. Although the kiss was brief it was enough to send off a flurry of emotions she had been trying desperately to ignore. However during this kiss that lasted mere seconds she couldn't remember why she was fighting the feelings that had been growing for so long.

As they pulled apart Natalia looked at her in utter shock for only a second before she pulled Olivia to her and kissed her again. This time both of them being willing participants. Their lips met in a soft meeting of flesh. Olivia's hands slid into Natalia's hair while Natalia's hands pressed into the small of her back pressing their bodies tightly together in a kiss that told each other everything they were feeling.

As Olivia continued to kiss her, she felt Natalia's tongue barely slip out and ask for entrance, without hesitation, she opened to her. Allowing their tongues to slide together, exploring each others mouths with wild abandon. All Olivia could think was I hope this never ends.

Natalia's heart was beating so hard she feared it would pound out of her chest. She was lost in the feel and taste and smell of Olivia. She couldn't think at all until all of the sudden fear gripped her so tight her breath was lost and she pushed away.
