Chapter 11 - I'm sorry

Marinette POV

I sat on my couch for a long time, watching Tikki sleep peacefully on my lap. I was in the middle of a deep thought when I heard my phone buzz from inside my purse. I reached my hand in and pulled it out to see a message from Alya.
Alya: "I'm so sorry Marinette! I should have believed you. You are my best friend and I shouldn't have been so quick to jump to conclusions. Will you forgive me?"
I didn't respond to her. I didn't know what to say. All it took for her to turn against me was a few words out of Lila's mouth. The only person who believed me is Adrien. "ADRIEN!" I shout waking Tikki up. I quickly stood up off of my couch in panic. "Marinette calm down! What about Adrien?!?" Tikki says flying up to my face. "I GAVE HIM MY EARNINGS, HE KNOWS I AM LADYBUG! WHAT IF HE TELLS SOMEONE ELSE AND HAWKMOTH FINDS OUT MY IDENTITY!" I yell at Tikki while frantically walking around my room. "Marinette breath. I'm sure Adrien will keep your secret!" Tikki says grabbing my face to stop me from pacing. "How are you so sure about that! You saw what happened when Cat noir found out my identity. Hawkmoth used it against him and he almost caused the end of the world!" I say. "I am putting all of my friends and family in danger with someone knowing my identity. I'm sorry, I can't risk Hawkmoth hurting the ones I love. I'm going to have to give up my role as ladybug and guardian." I say looking at Tikki. "But Marinette! If you do that, you will loose your memory! And Cat noir will be left to fight Hawkmoth on his own!" Tikki says with tears in her eyes. "I don't have much of a choice Tikki, my role as guardian is to keep the miraculous, and the miraculous wearers safe. With Adrien AND cat noir knowing my secret identity, no one is safe" I say looking down at the floor with teary eyes. I walk over to my desk and pull out a piece of paper and pen. "What are you doing Marinette?" Tikki says watching me. "I need to write Cat a letter in case I don't remember him after I pass on the box" I say in a sad tone. "You don't need to do that! Trust me Marinette just go talk to Cat noir!" Tikki says sitting down on my paper. "I need to do this" I say moving Tikki off of the paper. "If you won't go talk to Cat noir then I will go talk to Plagg about this!" Tikki says on the verge of tears. "I'm doing the right thing Tikki, I'm sorry." I say as she flies out the window. I look down at my paper with tears in my eyes. "What will happen when I forget everyone? Who will help me remember?" I thought to myself. I knew that this was the right thing to do, so I pick up my pen and start writing.
