Chapter 12 - Cat's out of the bag

Marinette POV

"Now what Mari?" Cat asks still holding me in his arms. "I-I don't know Cat. I thought I would loose my memory. Well, I did, but then I remembered" I say looking up to him. "That's odd, why didn't you forget? Is that supposed to happen? Does that mean Master Fu remembers as well??" Cat asks In a confused tone. "I don't know" I reply looking back at the miracle box. It was a black square now, with a green paw print at the top. "Maybe we should ask Tikki and Plagg what they think of this" Cat suggests. "That's a good idea I say standing up and walking towards the box. I pick it up and hand it to Cat. "It's yours now, you are the new guardian" I say with a small smile. Cat took the box and put his hand over the paw print. Suddenly, the box opened and the miraculous were exposed to our view. "That miraculous. It looks familiar" Cat says pointing to the empty spot were the peacock miraculous would be. Under every miraculous there is a velvet drawing of how it looks like. "That's one of the miraculous's that Master Fu lost, the peacock" I say looking up at Cat. Cat noir froze, as if he was remembering something. "Cat noir?" I said in a concerned voice. He didn't reply so I asked him again. "Cat noir what's wrong??" I say a bit louder then before. "What did Master Fu tell you about this Miraculous??" Cat says turning pale. "Well, he said that most likely the person that owns this Miraculous is working with Hawkmoth, and that the Peacock Miraculous was damaged so it could harm the wearer" I say looking at Cat. "Why do you ask?" I say. "I think I know who owns this Miraculous" Cat says with an empty expression. "What?? Who is it" I say. "I can't tell you without revealing my identity Mari" Cat says twisting his ring. "But if I am right, I can't be a guardian. It would be too easy for Hawkmoth to get his hands on all the miraculous" he says looking up at me with a small frown. "What do you mean Cat?" I respond. "I need to investigate, but for now I can't take the miracle box home with me" Cat says walking over to my window. "Cat wait! We still need to ask Tikki why I still have my memory!" I say as he is about to leave. "You have the box right now. If I am right about this then I will need your help, I will need ladybug!" Cat says looking at the box. "But you and Adrien both know my identities! It is too dangerous for everyone" I say to Cat. "Adrien will keep your secret, trust me" Cat says turning around and walking closer to me. "How do you know for sure!" I say. "Mari I think it's time for you to know my identity" Cat says grabbing my hand. "What? But Cat we can't do that!" I say. "Trust me princess" Cat says before taking a deep breath. "Plagg, claws in" he says as he starts to de-transform. I look down I my feet still unsure if this was the right decision. "Mari, please look at me" Cat says holding both my hands in his. I notice his bracelet, it is the lucky charm I gave to Adrien. I slowly move my eyes up from the floor, taking a good look at what he was wearing. my eyes move up closer to his face. "Hey Mari" he said as we lock eyes. "A-ADRIEN?!!!" I say with a shocked voice. "Y-your Cat noir?!!!" I say. "You guys are so blind" Plagg says before flying away to find some snacks in my drawers. I pulled Adrien into a deep hug. He was quite a bit taller then me so my head was pressed up against his chest, listening to his heart beat. As I pull away Adrien's face grows sadder. "What is it Kitty, what's the matter?" I say holding his hand in both of mine. "I-I think I know who Hawkmoth is" he says tearing up. "Who is it Adrien?" I say looking into his sad green eyes.
"My father" he says with a cold expression. "What??!? How do you know for sure Adrien?" I say putting my hand on his shoulder. "Two years ago, my mom randomly disappeared. Father and I never talked about it, and since then he has grown even more distant then before. About a year ago I was going through some shelves in his office and I came across a Peacock pin, leaning on a picture of my mom. She always used to wear it before she disappeared. It has a crack down the middle of it. I didn't realize this until now, but my mom used to have these dizzy spells, they were happening more and more frequently before she disappeared. And now Natalie is getting the same dizzy spells as my mom. You mentioned a while ago that using a broken miraculous can cause a lot of harm on a person. I don't think my mom just disappeared. I think she was using the miraculous and it eventually got too much for her to handle. Hawkmoth said that merging out two miraculous would give him one wish. I think Hawkmoth is my dad and he is trying to heal my mom" Adrien says with a tear falling down his cheek. I gently wipe it off with my finger. "Adrien, you know if you make that wish, it would have terrible consequences" I say looking into his eyes. "I know, that's why we need fo defeat Hawkmoth before he gets the chance to do anything" he says. "I know that being Ladybug is a lot of work, and it puts a lot of pressure on you, but maybe now that we know each other's identities we can talk to each other about it and it won't be as hard on you." Adrien says looking at me with a forced small smile. "M'lady, I need your help. I can't do this alone" he says as another tear falls down his cheek. "Okay Cat. I will be ladybug again, but you need to promise me that you won't go do anything dangerous now that you know my identity" I say. "I promise" Adrien replies.
I walk over to the miracle box and take out the ladybug earrings. Tikki comes flying out from inside them, confused on what is going on. I put on the earrings and hold my hand out so that Tikki could sit down on it. "Nice to see you again" I say to her with a small smile. "Marinette you remember me?!" Tikki said in a shocked voice. "Yes Tikki, I forgot for a little while but then it all came back to me. It was so strange" I say looking up at Adrien. "Tikki we think Adrien found out who Hawkmoth is" I say looking at her with a disappointed face. "Really?!?? That's great! We could get the miraculous back!" Tikki says in an excited voice. "It's my Father" Adrien says looking at his shoes. "Oh, I'm so sorry Adrien" Tikki says flying up to him. Adrien takes a deep breath then says "we need to figure out a plan".

Adrien POV

The thought of my dad being the most evil person in Paris made both sad and angry "Why did my mom even use the miraculous in the first place? And doesn't my dad know that if he heals her it would harm someone else?" I thought to myself while watching Mari and Tikki chat.
"It was around 2pm now. My father would be coming home from his trip soon, his plane is set to land at 4pm so this leaves me some time to go explore the house" I thought to myself. "Mari?" I say in a calm voice. "Yes Kitty?" She replied. "I have a plan" I say looking into her eyes. "My dad Doesn't get home until 4 today, we can go investigate in my house. If the miraculous is broken then I'm sure he wouldn't have taken it with him" I say.
"We can do that but won't it be risky with all of the cameras around your house?" Mari says standing up off the floor from where she was sitting. "Just trust me. My dad rarely leaves the house, so we won't get another chance like this" I say walking up to her. She looks at me for a few moments unsure of what to say, but after a bit of thinking she agrees to my plan.
