"Fight! Fight!"
Ilèyn took this command called out by the wizard as the start signal and dashed forward. She sank the first arrows deep into the flesh of the goblins, who were still not fully conscious and were spread around the group of dwarves. She shot the goblin with the large knife down from Thorin's chest until she approached the company. In the meantime the dwarves had grabbed their weapons, roaring loudly, and were also beginning to fight their way through their opponents. These had recovered and fought nasty hand-to-hand battles with the dwarves and the wizard. They were still on the platform in front of the Goblin King's throne, who had stumbled back, whimpering in fear.
Ilèyn saw him for the first time when she turned after ramming an arrow in the back of one of these creatures. For a blink of an eye the two looked at each other, Ilèyn put on a evil grin and went purposefully towards the giant goblin. She shouldered her bow and drew the two long, curved battle daggers.
"Get away from me!" the goblin king shouted in panic, trembled and pointed at the dwarf. Roars rang out right next to her and some of the king's henchmen rushed wildly towards her. Ilèyn had to dodge, ducked under a sword blow from one goblin, slitting his stomach in the process, a second and third she effortlessly beheaded with both knives and a fourth she tripped a leg so that he fell down into the tunnels. Just as she was about to straighten up, however, a fifth man pushed her back to the ground. Ilèyn fell on her back on the wooden planks, propped herself on both elbows and was about to get up again when the goblin raised his sword over her, ready to stab.Just as he was about to let the sword fly down, the point of a weapon pierced the chest of the goblin, who looked down in shock and then, when the weapon was quickly pulled out of his body, tipped over, also from the platform.
Fili appeared behind the goblin, now stood in front of Ilèyn and held out his hand to her.
"Maybe you need my help occasionally after all." he said with a smile as the archer took his hand and he pulled her up. She looked sternly at him until a small grin crept onto her thin lips.
Gandalf made himself heard loudly, with the order for his comrades-in-arms to follow him. They did as they were told. Fili and Ilèyn exchanged a quick look and then ran after the group, followed by hundreds and hundreds of goblins. The wizard led the company over narrow walkways, wobbly bridges and crumbling rocks towards the exit. Goblins rushed towards them from all sides. They climbed the rock, swung themselves on ropes over wide ravines, or jumped down the wooden scaffolding.
Ilèyn overtook most of the dwarves until she ran close behind Gandalf. She had put her daggers back and had her bow in hand again to shoot the group free. They were just walking down a long, tall bridge. The goblins who were not pierced by one of Ilèyn's arrows, Gandalf killed with his sword and staff.
The company reached the end of the bridge and was now in a confusing system of wooden scaffolding, piles, further bridges, and footbridges.
Now it rumbled loudly behind the dwarf. For a moment she saw over her shoulder how some goblins had jumped between her and the other half of the group. The bald dwarf at the head ran into these goblins and knocked back some of them. Gandalf kept running, Ilèyn and the other half of the group with him.
"Post!" she heard someone shouting behind her as several creatures climbed onto the bridge next to her. She shot arrows between the eyes of several of them until she was grabbed by the foot. Ilèyn looked down and straight into the bloodshot eyes of one of the beasts. In a flash she drew an arrow from her quiver and rammed it with her hand into the neck of the goblin below her. Another one was just coming towards her, and she hurled the same arrow into it's upper body with full force. She fell back and started shooting arrows at the goblins behind her group as they kept running. She discovered the other group on the scaffolding floor below her, including Fili. They were all still running in the same direction, after Gandalf.Ilèyn continued firing at the enemies, but for every goblin shot five more climbed and jumped at them. All of this was pointless if they didn't get to the exit soon or find some other way to escape this mass of adversaries.
The scaffolding on which the group had split ended on a single path, the first group had a slight lead, but now the second group was again close behind them.
They came to a place where several paths and footbridges crossed, these creatures came rushing towards them from all directions. The old white-haired dwarf lashed out with his sword, Thorin killed four in one fell swoop and Ilèyn shot at the opposing archers. The hard-of-hearing dwarf struck wildly at the enemy with his iron rod when further roars resounded from the opposite rock face. Several goblins swung over to them on thick ropes.
"Cut the ropes!" Oakenshield roared. Ilèyn had taken back the bow and used her daggers to cut the tied ropes that were attached to some stakes next to her. A few other dwarfs followed suit, which caused one of the huge scaffolding to tip over and the goblins on the moorings to be wound up on that scaffolding at full speed like sewing thread.
Ilèyn was already on her way to catch up with Gandalf when archers came towards her. These aimed at Kili, who tried to repel some of the arrows with his sword. Ilèyn had her bow back at hand and shot back. She killed the riflemen until Kili, with the help of the others, had found a ladder and now swept the other opponents off the jetty. Ilèyn stayed close behind them. The ladder served as a bridge over a large gap in the footbridge. As the last to cross the bridge, Ilèyn gave the ladder a blow, so that it fell into the depths and the path of the pursuers was cut off.
She and the others caught up with Gandalf, who, with Thorin at the head, cut a swath in the approaching goblins. The community was now reunited, but the next problem was already approaching them. When they ran to the next bridge, they noticed that it was still unfinished. Thorin cut the load-bearing rope at the beginning of the bridge and with a jerk the wooden frame rocked over a deep abyss. It swung over to the other end of the abyss, where the bridge was also started. Bofur and a few other dwarfs managed to leave the swinging component with one leap, then it was already moving back to its starting point, where the angry goblins now stood.
"Beware!" Ilèyn called to the others. The next moment the beasts jumped at her, nagging. Ilèyn pulled one of them by his thin arm, swiftly slit his throat, and threw him off the bridge. This had already arrived on the other side again, which the rest of the group also used to jump over to the rescue footbridge. Ilèyn took a run and jumped powerfully over, behind her Fili cut the last rope on which the swinging scaffold was hanging and at the same time rushed over to the others. Oakenshield and Kili caught him, the group ran on, right into the middle of more goblin crowds. The dwarves fought, fought and fought their way through until the wooden floor was soon replaced by rock. Gandalf raised his staff and with a flash of lightning and a thud a large boulder broke away from the ceiling of the cave. It began to roll straight down the sloping path, straight towards the approaching goblins. One by one, they were crushed and the company briefly had free rein. The path curved and led them past more scaffolding where another wave of goblins awaited the company.
