"C-Colt, slow down!"

You didn't like this, you didn't like this at all.

"Hey, it's alright. I promise. Trust me in this, okay?"

"But, Colt—"

A small frown appeared on your face as fear still creeped at the back of your mind. Your boyfriend surely knew that you were not a fan of impromptu meetings, not with the status that you had in this country. But it seemed like he had something specific in mind that he wanted to do.

You were already tucked into bed when a gentle, repeated knock could be heard from your windowpane. Turning your head, you found your boyfriend for the last two years waving his hand to greet you with the same tender smile that always plastered on his face.

He could be crazy sometimes, despite how he was that perfect man who would be the best son-in-law any parents wanted (especially since he was a warrior candidate who already secured a titan power) — Colt could be, well, a little bit rebellious sometimes when it came to you. "Colt, it's already past midnight, if the guards see us—"

"They wouldn't, trust me." He turned his face towards you, one hand gripping tight around yours since he was afraid that you would fall from how fast the two of you ran in the middle of the night right now. "And if they caught us," His pace slowed down a little, patting his left arm that was wrapped with a yellow armband. "You have nothing to worry about."

A smile finally etched on your lips, brows no longer furrowed since you were reminded that he was one of the golden children in the Marleyan Military. Yes, there was nothing that you should be worried about, Colt must have a lot on his sleeves, a shout from the guard wouldn't stop him.

You didn't know where he was taking you, not when he was literally begging you to just come with him through the window, not even letting you change into proper attire. You just knew that he had a plan and, even though you were afraid, you blindly followed him as you put all of your trust on him.

"We are almost there."

You and he had already ran past the gate that separated Liberio and the other city in Marley, and up until now, you still didn't know where your boyfriend wanted to take you.

Your feet brushed overgrown grass, tickling you as it kept grazing on your skin. When you looked up, the moon became the only source of light that you could find, and you wondered when he would stop running.

As if on cue, he did. Without giving you any kind of sign, he suddenly stopped, making you stumble forward to his back. You wanted to curse at him, whining at why he didn't tell you anything that the two of you already reached the destination.

But as you opened up your eyes, settling your gaze walked past him, all the words that you wanted to say stuck in your throat.

Thousands of fireflies overpowered the moonlight, leaving an abundance of luminescence in your vision. Your breath hitched as you were trying to take it all in, legs wobbled slightly from how long you were running, but you refused to fall down as you were graced by such beauty of nature.

Colt turned to take a look at you, smiling softly when he found the dumbstruck look at your face. He gently tugged your hand so you would follow him. But unlike before where he ran at a speed of light, now, each step that he took was calculated and gentle.

Your gaze never left the beautiful sight in front of you, though thankfully your body moved on its own as your boyfriend led you to another clearance where he found a space to lay down without losing the breathtaking view.
