💫 A Brief History of Magic #2 💫

As we have previously learned in ALBOM, there are certain spells that are labeled as "forbidden". In this episode of ✨ A Little Bit of Magic ✨ we will be going over a brief history of these outlawed magics! 

The Magical High Committee is a group of lawmakers, or basically, the government, who oversee economy, social relations, politics, and anything under the sun. The MHC are similar to politicians and celebrities in our own lives, living in their own little bubble, yet pretending to be understanding of the "normal" people in society. They're stuck up, ignorant, and are more likely than not, extremely deluded in their values. 

Though the name "forbidden" ensues that something is dangerous, and is outlawed because it would pose a threat to society, that's not always the case. As society evolves, so do taboos and norms. One of these is the "cux omnis oculus", in other words, the "all-seeing eye". 

A very difficult spell to control and harness, the Cux Omnis Oculus is only used by the most gifted wizards and witches who have had their magic honed for decades. The spell allows it's caster to reveal an event in any point in time and requires even more strength to be cast on another being. This isn't the case of Nigel and y/n, who were blessed with elven blood, making the difficult task somewhat lax. But though Nigel can cast the spell, he cannot control it to the point in time he wishes to see. (Though what they saw was incriminating enough.) 

The Cux Omnis Oculus was added to the list of forbidden spells because of it's indecency. Yes, that's right. Neverland's most powerful wizards also happened to be complete creeps, spying on the women they liked. Unfortunately, one of these unnamed wizards happened to spy on a member of the MHC's wife. 

The repercussions for being caught using a forbidden spell is simple. Jail. Forever. 

The point of forbidding a spell is to erase it. Blood bending, tectonic trembling, and blue fire were all forms of magic that the MHC wanted to destroy. They were too powerful, and posed a threat to the society that the corrupted MHC try very hard to keep ahold of.
