"Hey...Sakaki...? I hope you're awake, I hope you're listening...but...You drink so much and we're becoming farther apart..." You shifted deeper into the sheets. "I love you... we don't talk much but I love you..." You blink several tears away and drift to sleep. Deidoro was listening, he was sober. Deidoro flipped over and wrapped an arm around you once he knew you were asleep.
"I'm sorry...I love you too... Goodnight."
Days have passed and you noticed Deidoro's cut down on alcoholic beverages. Did he actually hear you or did he just have a sudden change of heart? Whatever it was, you were grateful. Deidoro became more talkative to you, asking about your day, whether you've eaten or not, etc. He started to realize how much he valued this, and he's been wasting it. He's been wasting it on useless drinks.
Days turned to months to years, each day he's cut down to nearly none. Deidoro noticed your smile got brighter and brighter everyday. This was a good sacrifice.
He's willing to sacrifice everything to see you smile more.
