I almost choked on the piece of bread I just had bitten off from the sand which when I heard him say this. I was so shocked to hear such a blunt question from Eiji. He usually isn't very straightforward so I was rather taken back. Just how has he changed since i've been gone ?

Regaining my train of thought i get back to the question. There was minimal contact with other people on the island and when I came back to NY i've been trying extremely hard to stay on the "downlow". So yes I technically am single, but mentally i'm taken. I cant tell him though that ive been in love with him for all these years. I know he has said he's moved on, but i'm not sure to what extent. What if i'm stepping my boundaries by being in love with him still ? Does he have a s/o ? UGHHH I need to calm down myself down and answer him.
(EIJI POV)
Of course he's not single look at him. He's tall, blonde, smart, his eyes, and just everything about him is very attractive. There's no way he's single. I look back at him for his answer desperately. I see him very deep in thought. Maybe he's taken and trying to keep it a secret. OH MY GOSH did I overstep with my question ?! I need to step back before I push him away. I say "Nevermind it's okay we can ask personal more questions later" while kindly smiling to make myself seem less nervous. I say this and expect to quickly move on from the conversation, but then he blurts out "NO!" while dropping his sandwich and standing up.
(ASH POV)
"Nevermind it's okay we can ask personal more questions later" I here Eiji say while my mind is racing. I need to answer quickly before I don't get to answer him. I quickly stand up and firmly say no. He looks a little shocked at how expressive my answer was. I was a little shocked with myself to if i'm being honest. I awkwardly chuckle and slowly sit back down while saying "ahah sorry I didn't mean to jump like that. I just mean no, i don't have a girlfriend. Nor do I have any other significant other." I try to clarify to get ALL misunderstandings out of the way. I look at him express waiting for him to answer
