Arabella's POV
Saturday had flown by and before I knew it, I was in my dorm with Hermione getting ready for tonight's party.
I quietly observed Hermione as she sat in front of our mirror, trying to perfect a hair styling charm she had seen in her spell book.
"It keeps going wrong!" she whines, shoving her wand onto the rug and sighing. "I just wanted it to pin back the sides- you know how it looked that night when-"
"I'll tell you what," I interrupted, "why don't I just do it for you?"
"Could you?" she smiled sweetly to me through the mirror.
I nodded with a smile, hopping of the bed and coming to crouch behind her, taking a comb and some clips in my hands. I began combing through Hermione's wavy locks, holding a hair grip in my teeth whilst I sectioned her hair.
"Arabella," 'mione spoke, bringing my eyes up to hers, "I know there's a rather large chance Katie and Cedric are going to do whatever they can to get under your skin tonight. But if they do, you know i'll always be close by and you can come to me for anything. I promise i'll always be there for you."
A small smile crept on my face, the hair grip still in my mouth. I brought my hand to rest and squeeze on her shoulder, a silent sign of appreciation; she reached to place her hand on top of mine.
I was very grateful for Hermione, she had been a better friend to me than anyone else had been in my entire life. Her kind words only reassured me further that I would be able to get through the night with the least amount of drama possible. I knew she would always have my back.
After a few short minutes, I placed the last grip into her hair and nodded in approval, signalling I was finished. She beamed in excited, turning her head to take a look at the back.
"Thanks Belle, it looks brilliant!" she grinned, to which I smiled in return.
I had already picked out my dress, and all that was left was to encourage Hermione to wear the dress that I had chosen for her. I had to admit, I knew it would be something out of her comfort zone, with the short length and the thin straps, but I hoped that the pastel purple colour would convince her to wear it.
After finally motivating her to try it on, I watched as she glared at her body in the mirror, running her hands down her sides and analysing how the dress looked on her.
"I don't know Arabella, I feel like I look silly." She huffed, turning to me for reassurance.
I tilted my head with a grin, "Hermione I think you look amazing, but if it's a tad too revealing then i'll get you a- hang on I think I have something."
I cut myself off, heading to my drawer and rummaging through it, eventually pulling out a thin cropped cardigan. I threw it over to her; she seemed unsure but put it on anyways.
