We were surrounded by strings of fairy lights as they dimly lit up the fair ground, illuminating the children’s faces as they played the games that filled the otherwise empty piece of land. The amount of people was suffocating as we tried to make our way through the thick packs of bodies we’d never met before in our lives. The air was hot but the cool breeze that blew from the overlooking beach kept us cool and it felt nice to pull my jacket a little closer. I looked up in awe at the rides that were surrounding me, far too high off the ground and I noticed the people screaming in pure terror as they rode a roller coaster that was at least 50 feet off the ground.
A hand brushed lightly against mine and I felt a shiver sent up and down my spine. I looked over to my right and a curly head of locks was all that was in view as it seemed that everything else disappeared. My eyes flickered down to his lips as he shook his curls out of his face quickly, noticing that a small smirk brushed across his slightly red lips. He looked over to me, his thick eyebrows furrowed as he brought his bottom lip between his teeth.
“Can we go on the ferris wheel.” I asked softly, my voice becoming quieter than I thought it would be as I pointed up to the wheel that was scattered generously with fairy lights.
“Uh, h-how about we go on something else?” He offered, fear flickering briefly in his green eyes.
“Are you scared Harry?” I asked softly, although not teasing, genuinely interested in why a boy like himself would be scared of such a ride.
“No.” He pushed firmly and I knew that he was lying because of the way that he blinked twice while he said it.
“It’s okay Harry.” I spoke quietly, reassurance filling my soft voice.
“Tayla.” He said sternly, all of a sudden stopping in his tracks.
“I’ll just go with one of the other boys.” I said softly, giving him a small smile as I noticed that his lips were pressed in a straight line, jealousy clearly masking them.
“Hey Lou wanna come on th-“ I started to say, turning to Louis when Harry interrupted me.
“I’ll go with you.” Harry spoke, a hint of unsureness flickering briefly through his eyes.
“No, Harry it’s fine I’ll just go wit-“ I began to speak waving Harry off as I returned my attention to Louis but I was interrupted again.
“I will go with you.” He spoke sternly with me and I watched as he drew in a huge sigh, closing his eyelids tightly over his eyes.
He took me by surprise as he took my hand, dragging me over to the slightly long line of people queuing up for the ferris wheel.
“Let’s just get this over and done with.” I heard him mutter under his breath.
~~~
The ferris wheel stopped at the bottom, after a good ten minutes of going around we had reached the bottom for the second time and we could get off. I’d never seen Harry move so fast as he unbuckled the strap and got off, quickly unbuckling me and taking my hand.
“Harry, slow down.” I said breathily as we ran through the amounts of people that suffocated the boardwalk.
His footsteps began to slow as he steadied to a stop. He dropped my hand as we looked at each other and I realised just how green his eyes were, noticing the spirals of brown that dispersed from the middle of his iris. A soft blush tinted my cheeks as I looked down nervously at my feet. I looked back up for a split second to see a smirk plastering his face as he looked down at me. He brought his thumb and forth finger up to my chin and raised it so that I had no choice but to look into his entrancing green eyes. I continued to blush but I could not seem to take my eyes off of him, no matter how hard I tried. He opened his mouth to say something when someone abruptly pushed me from behind making my lips instantly connect with his. His lips felt different, rougher than usual as I realised what had just happened I pulled back, eyes wide as I looked at him a dark cranberry blush rising on my cheeks.
“I-I’m sorry.” I stuttered softly.
“If you wanted a kiss all you had to do is ask, Tayla.” Harry said cheekily, not at all too phased at what had just happened, a smirk plastering his face.
I brushed him off, walking over to a game. You had a hammer and you had to hit it onto the weigher underneath and get it to the top to win a prize. My eye instantly caught the presence of the huge green Yoshi stuffed toy that was dangling from a
“Harry.” I gasped turning around to look at the curly haired boy with my eyes and mouth wide.
“Yeah?” He asked taking his eyes off of the water and looking over at me as i gaped, pointing over to the huge stuffed toy. I watched as his lips straightened out into a sideways smirk, a thick chuckle leaving the back of his throat as he shook his head softly, his curls swaying delicately.
“Harry, please.” I begged taking his hand and dragging him over to the game.
He chuckled breathily again handing the small amount of money over to the man and picking up the hammer in his tight hands.
“No, no. Can I have a turn first please.” I asked as I rested my small hands on top of his larger ones.
His grip loosened around the wooden handle as I took it in my hands, struggling with the weight of the hammer. Harry helped me swing the hammer over my shoulder steadying it for me as he chuckled softly to himself. He stepped back and watched me as I threw the hammer forwards hitting the weight a bit off centre and watched as the red lights flickered up just above midway.
I turned to Harry, an over exaggerated pout framing my lips as I dropped the heavy hammer to the floor. Harry stepped forward taking my hand as he softly whispered in my ear for me to pick up the hammer. I did as he had told me to and his large warm hands wrapped around mine over the hammer. We brought it back over both of our shoulders and held it there.
“Ready?” A pair of warm lips brushed over my ear, hot breath blowing softly as chills were sent up and down my back. I nodded, knowing my voice wasn’t the most reliable source right now.
“On the count of three.” He whispered lowly, almost growling as his grip tightened around my hands.
“One. Two. Three.” On the count of three we both threw the hammer forward with as much momentum as we could manage. We tilted out heads up to watch the red lights climb all the way to the top, igniting a big blue light.
I instantly dropped the hammer from my hands and turned around, his eyes lighting up even brighter than they usually are as I jumped up, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms clinging to his neck. His hands travelled under my bum to held keep my up and he chuckled lowly into my ear, pressing a soft kiss to my cheek. I quickly jumped out of his grip and the man handed me the huge stuffed yoshi. I took it in both of my hands, hugging it closely to my body, realising that it was nearly bigger than me. I jogged over to Harry, leaning up onto my tippy toes to place a delicate kiss to the side of his cheek.
“Thank you so much Harry.” I breathed as I watched that sideways smile make its way onto his face.
“You’re very welcome.” He replied, softly chuckling as he swung his arm around my shoulder, walking off the go find the other boys.
