{Preface}

It didn't take Jasper's supernatural hearing to know that Bella and Evelyn Swan were the talk of the town, and aside from the brief glance he got at Jessica's regular lunchtime gossip he couldn't say that he knew too much about the girls. Alice however, had been ecstatic about the arrival of the Swan twins and practically began to bounce off the walls the second the day started. But now entering mathematics was Evelyn Swan and as she walked into the room Jasper has hit by a wave of the most intoxicating scent of roses, chamomile and vanilla.

As her scent washed over him it was like everybody else in the room disappeared, his burning throat was soothed for the first time at Forks high school and the constant weight of the bloodlust of five other vampires as well as his own was finally extinguished. Jasper found himself short of thought as his instincts threatened to take over him completely.

Mine

Almost as if bubbling under his skin he could feel his instincts threatening to take over his mind in some desperate and primal attempt at securing his mate, but fortunately, his inner turmoil was interrupted by the tired voice of their teacher, and for the first time in his life, Jasper found himself not hating maths.

"Miss Swan if you would like to introduce yourself to the class"

"Hi I'm Evelyn Swan, I've just moved here from Arizona with my fraternal twin Bella" Her voice, although a little awkward at being put on the spot like that was sweet-sounding and calm.

"Thank you miss Swan now let's get you seated, can mister Hale please raise your hand?" and so he did, ready to meet his mate for the first time, an almost giddy sense of excitement filled his body as she approached. Gracefully the girl made her way over to the empty desk before sitting and getting what she needed out of her bag, after what felt like an eternity to Jasper she turned to face him with an endearingly shy yet animated smile on her face. 

"Hi I'm Evelyn, but I'm guessing you gathered that already, nice to meet you" she breathed nervously with a small wave, he didn't need his gift to know that she was feeling anxious.

"The pleasure is all mine ma'am, Jasper " He pretended to tip his hat at the girl which caused her to laugh lowly so as not to get in trouble with Mr Brown.
