I walked into the princess's room on the day of the funeral and kept my head held low.

"Gloria," she said plainly.

"Forgive me," I told her, "and I am so sorry about your mother's death."

She smiled and I was shocked.

"It's alright, Gloria. Help me dress?"

I nodded and started to get her ready.

The knight lied asleep in her bed, and I thought to explain myself, "About me and your uncle-"

"I don't want to hear it. Just know if he ever places a ring on your finger, I will not call you my aunt."

"No worries there," I whispered sadly, "I believe I am just his bed tool and nothing more."

She almost comforted me but I laughed at the thought, "He is so amazing in bed. Dominating yet so soft afterwards. Especially those whips and kni-"

She shivered instantly, "Ew Gloria! Knives?! Do you know how old he is?"

"Oh hush, you know I love older men."

I hummed and walked out of the kitchen, seeing Lessi's father, the king, leaning against the wall patiently.

I quickly bowed and walked on with the laundry basket in my hand.

"Gloria," he said to stop me in my tracks.

His voice was a lot more scary than Oridan's and I kept my eyes low when I turned towards him.

"Do you know something I don't?" he asked.

"W-what?" I asked.

"That knight and my daughter," he said and moved from the wall to stand over me.

I practically broke my neck trying to look up at him. The men in the Huéno family were nothing less than gigantic. "What about them?"

"Bold of you to act dumb around me."

"I...I..."

"Are they sleeping together?" he asked seriously.

It was illegal for a knight to accompany the princess in bed. This would hurt Adonis, and Lessi's heart even more if the truth was out.

"No sir," I responded shakily.

"I'm disappointed in you Gloria. Though my brother has raised you, you still manage to lie."

My eyes widened, "H-hold on-"

He looked towards the guards on the wall, "Retrieve the knight named Adonis and have him castrated immediately."

I shook my head quickly, "King Adon, please-"

"Enough," he said and left.

I sank to my knees, hushed once more.

She'll never forgive me for this.

I lit an arrow on fire and aimed it towards the sky, releasing it into the air not long after. "May the queen live on through us all."

I watched Auria's casket go up in flames. All I could do was fulfill her final wish and protect the family I had.

When the sighting was over, I remained at the river silently.

I was confused when I heard a stampede of horses.
