It was time for the ball and I got Lessi prepared.
"This dress will not cover the scar on your back, are you sure you still want to wear it?" I asked her and started to sew.
"Yes. Why hide what is now a part of me?"
"Understandable," I told her and grabbed the gel on the dresser.
I fixed her up in silence until she decided to speak again.
"Gloria..." she said suddenly, "does it ever hurt when you have...y'know?"
I nodded and braided the last of her hair, "At times, why?"
"No reason."
I smiled, "I honestly can't tell the pain during the process. Oridan is quite skillful in these instances though, so I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison."
She nodded slowly, raising an eyebrow, "Why do you cling to him if he only seems to want you in bed?"
I froze.
Though I knew it wasn't true that I was just someone he slept with, I began to have second thoughts.
Lessi quickly realized her words, "I am sor-"
"It's...it is fine," I smiled through the pain in my heart.

I looked around at the crowed in the ballroom and almost puked.
Gatherings and I were a huge no.
Uvin sighed from beside me as he looked at Enrian engage with the women. I thought he'd be a little furious, but he had come to terms that he'd probably never have his heart.
It was saddening, but it was better to accept the truth, than to weep about the unknown.
"We're just outcasts, aren't we?" he asked.
I nodded, but then saw a curvaceous brunette swing towards his way. "Maybe you aren't as much an outcast as you think, Vinny."
"W-what? No. Help me Gloria. Please."
I remained silent and the woman approached him. "Hi, I couldn't help but look at you from afar. You are quite breathtaking. Are you from here?"
"Yes," he sighed in response.
"Oh my goodness! Your accent is lovely. Are you Lavanian by any chance?"
I almost laughed and he looked so annoyed, "Yeah. I am."
"I'm from Lavania too, let's dance!"
"Wait!" he called, but it was too late. She dragged him onto the polished dance floor and he shot me and Lessi a glare.
"Poor Vinny," Lessi giggled.
When I didn't smile, she nudged my arm.
"Why so tense?" she asked.
"I'm thinking about severing ties with your uncle."
"What?!" she asked in shock.
I nodded shyly, "I thought about what you said earlier. It could very well be true. What if that's all he loves me for?"
She frowned and Oridan walked up to me.
Perfect timing, I thought sarcastically.
He bowed, "You look astonishing. Are you sure you're not a princess?"
