as calendulas grow abundant

beneath the morning sunrise,

hummingbirds feast on honeysuckle,

singing your name in the skies

the refreshing mountain breeze

blows your curly, untamed tresses

away from your rosy cheeks

but still, I long for your presence

a sense of solitude and silence

washes over my features

while you peacefully rest beside me

with not a care in the world

one fleeting night and a kiss goodbye

is all I need to bide my idle time

let me touch you like a lover,

let me hold you like a friend

I only wish that your pain

could be mine instead

after our pleasant rendezvous,

you forsake me when you wake

but in the summer of 'twenty-two,

you'll return to my embrace

you depart with renewed vigor,

ripping my heart into shreds,

but I'll treasure your tender kisses

that unravel me into threads
