~i met you for a reason~
July 24, 2027
"Okay, your total will be...30 dollars."
Today was July 24
A day Julie loved and dreaded at the same time.
There was joy and happiness that came with the day, but also a deep feeling of sorrow.
July 24 was her mom's birthday. Even though this day came around every year, nothing would be able to prepare her.
The cashier handed Julie her bouquet of dahlias, she bought, and gave her her receipt.
"They are such beautiful flowers. You have good taste." The clerk said.
Julie smiled and glanced at her flowers. "Thank you."
Julie grabbed her belongings and made her way out to her car.
She inserted her keys and drove off to her destination. The car ride was silent. She didn't feel like playing music or listening to anything. She just needed a moment to collect her thoughts.
Within a matter of time, Julie arrived at the cemetery. She parked her car, grabbed her flowers and locked her door.
She didn't even reach her mothers tombstone, but tears already were streaming down her face.
She took a second to breathe, then she made her way to the grave.
She's been here times before, and knew exactly where she was going.

Julie sat her bouquet of dahlias down, then sat in front of the tombstone.
"Hey mom." She said, wiping her tears, slightly forcing a chuckle. "It's crazy to think you would've been 52 today." She smiled. "I know it's been like...11 years? But..I'm never ready. It's crazy to think it's been 11..whole trips around the sun." She said. "But everyone here is doing good! Dad...I'm sure he told you, he started dating again but, even though he'll never admit, he'll never really be over you. No woman will ever hold a place in his heart like you did."
She continued. "And Nova is doing good too..I don't know if she told you this but he went to college! But she's majoring in computer science at Stanford, but she decided to do online college so she could stay with me. She knew you would've been proud of her. It's crazy to think she'll be 20 next month. It's like..where did time go? Y'know?" She asked chuckling, tears still strolling down her face. "And then we have me...I've been good actually. I found my new apartment and..my jobs going great. I love getting to teach little kids all about music, It really does make me happy." Julie stopped and took a pause, to find out what she wanted to say. "I just wanted to say..happy birthday mom." She sniffled. "We love you and miss you, and-"
"Hey!" A man yelled behind her.
Julie turns to look, and sees a guy who looks around her age, and completely out of breath.
"Is that your car?" He asked, pointing to one of the cars in the parking lot that happened to be Julie's.
"Yes?" She answered
"Okay, well they're towing it." He said, catching his breath.
"Oh my-" Julie cut her self off, and look back at her moms grave. She placed two fingers on her lips, and placed it on the grave. "Happy birthday mom!" She said before getting up, running to the tow truck.
She ran to the car, waving him down before he left.
"Sir! Wait!" She yelled, as she ran to the truck.
The man rolled down his window, and looked Julie up and down.
"What?" He said with a hint of annoyance.
"Please don't tow my car, I-i'm here now. I'll play any fine or something just please give my car back." Julie panted
"Look kid, I've already got it latched up, you can come pick it up tomorrow. We open at 10." The man in the truck said. He handed her a card with the name of his company before driving off.
"Great." She huffed.
"Hey." The boy said running up. "Did you get your car back?"
"Yeah it's right here!" Julie said sarcastically, pointing to nothing. "I gotta go pick it up at 10 tomorrow." She groaned.
"Why is that such a big deal?" He asked.
"Cause I have a job. I can't just leave. How am I gonna get there? or home?" She questioned.
"I could drive you home." He offered.
"I don't even know you." Julie said, her arms crossed.
"Hi, I'm Luke, I'm 24, and I'm a music therapist." He said sticking out a hand.
Julie rolled her eyes, fighting back a smile. "Do you know where the Zenton Building is?" She asked.
"Yeah, I live there!"
"Do you mind..dropping me off?" She asked, rocking back and forth on her tippy toes.
"Sure, I've gotta head home anyways."

Luke dropped her off in front of the Zenton Building, and Julie had one last thing to say before she got out.
"I just wanna say thanks." Julie said.
"Anytime." He smiled. You could tell he was happy doing a favor.
Julie began to get out of the car, when she turned back.
"Hey..."
