~what a plot twist you were~
August 26th 2027
Weeks went by, and Julie doesn't regret asking Luke for his number that night. The two haven't stopped talking, and it's safe to say they aren't exactly friends. They learned they have a lot more in common then they think, and were both glad Julie's car got towed that day Luke, finally somehow built up the courage to ask her out on a date.
The date was scheduled for 11 AM. Luke wanted to have a little sunrise picnic, and he knew a spot where the two of them could just spend the morning, just the two of them.
Luke couldn't be more excited, Julie on the other hand...was over thinking everything.
"I don't know what to wear!" Julie yelled. "I mean you're his cousin, you know what he's like? What do you think he'd like?" Julie panicked.
"You wanna know what he'd really like?" Carrie said, getting up from the chair in Julie's room she had been sitting on, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"...Yeah that's what I just asked.." Julie said, raising an eyebrow.
"He would like you, to be you. Be yourself, and If he doesn't fall in love with the real you, then he's crazy. Dress however the hell you want to. Don't worry about him." Carrie advised
Julie smiled. "Why are you being so nice to me?" You've only known me for like a month."
"That's true.." Carrie started, "But I can tell you're a good girl, with good intentions. You guys really like each other, whether you want to admit it or not."
"Thank you Carrie." Julie smiled.
"Now you gonna keep overthinking, or choose an outfit?" Carrie asked
Julie laughed and picked out an outfit.
She ended up picking some strawberry denim shors, and a raglan sleeve two tone top. She didn't want to go to fancy, after all, she'd be outside.
Luke on the other hand, was getting some help himself.
"How's this?" Luke asked. He came out in a vintage band t shirt, and just a pair of pants.
"Oh my god, you look fine." Alex said annoyed at the 12th outfit change. "She won't care what you wear, its how you act. So try not to be a toddler for once?"
"Yeah, I think you're mistaking me for Reggie." Luke chuckled.
"Speaking of "she"," Reggie started, "Who's the lucky lady?" He asked.
"This time." Alex muttered.
"I'm not telling you anything." Luke retorted
Alex and Reggie exchanged glances in shock. "Is Luke Patterson finally not oversharing about his love life?" Alex asked sarcastically.
"Funny." He replied annoyed. He got a notification from his phone, telling him it was time to leave. "I gotta go, see you later goons." He left, grabbing his belongings.
The two waved, and waited until he left to continue their conversation.
"So how long do you give this one?" Reggie asked.
"I actually have faith in this one." Alex replied.
The two sat in silence for a moment, before bursting out into laughter
"That didn't even sound right coming out of my mouth." Alex chuckled.

"Luke, this is beautiful. I've lived here my entire life, and never once came across this spot." Julie said, shocked at the view in front of her. The two were standing on the top of a hill, with a blanket, and a picnic basket. They were also surrounded by a bunch of pretty flowers.
"Really? This used to be a hotspot." Luke said sitting down, patting a spot for Julie. Julie sat, and began talking with Luke
30 minutes later....
Julie and Luke had been having a great time on their date. Julie still couldn't get over how special she felt. It was the first date, and it was already like the two have known each other for years. He had found a special spot, set it up, dressed up, all just for her.
Julie couldn't get over the flowers. She looked to Luke and beagn to speak.
"I have a random question." Julie blurted out.
"Shoot." He said. He was laying on his side, bracing himself up on his elbow. He looked up at her when he heard her voice.
"What's your favorite flower?" she asked, playing with the little tulip above her.
"Daisies. For sure. Just...something about them. They're just so elegant." He said sitting up. "What's yours?"
"Dahlias." Julie smiled.
"Well, it's your lucky day, because.." He reached behind him, and pulled a dahlia off a bush. "I got one right here for ya." He took the dahlia, and slid it behind her ear. Just as his hand secured the flower in place, she also moved her hand to help keep it in place, causing each other to laugh.
"Thank you. Now your turn to ask me a random question." Julie said, reaching out for a strawberry from his picnic basket.
"Okay um...In the future...would you ever want children?" He asked
"Maybe. I have a little sister, her name's Nova, so I've always kind of been a mother figure to her. If I did have a kid, I'd know the gist." Julie said, not even thinking about what she just said.
"Mother figure?" Luke questioned. "Wouldn't that title go to your mother? Or.."
"My mom died when I was 11. My sister was 9, and my dad was always in and out working, so I've kinda had a kid since I was 11, I've kinda been fending for myself for a while. She lives with me now, since my dad also passed away." Julie said, choking on her words.
"I-i'm so sorry for asking. I'm sorry for your losses, but I get where your coming from, when you said you had to fend for yourself." Luke said
"What do you mean?" Julie asked.
"My parents died in a car wreck, when I was 19." He said, avoiding eye contact. "I was in college at the time, and I had roomates, and friends, and people I could talk to but..I felt so alone. The only other 2 people who know are my other 2 friends, and I've known them since forever but, I was still struggling to open up to them. I have no idea how I'm doing this right now. Cause I don't like opening up. I don't like being vulnerable or to cry, cause I don't like to feel." He said, forcing a smile to hide the tears.
"I..get where you're coming from. I've been to therapist after therapist, after therapist, and none of them got a peep out of me cause I felt the same way you did. I didn't want to be seen at my worst, and I wanted someone to talk to, but you can't have both. I learned that the hard way. But dealing with things on your own, only makes it worse. Once you find that person to talk to, everything will make sense. And you're not alone, you're never alone. There's people out there who struggle with the same thing you and I did. You've never been alone, and you never will be." Julie said, grasping onto his hand.
Luke smiled, and blushed as their fingers intertwined, Julie doing the same. Luke took her hand, and kissed it lightly. Julie lie her head on his shoulder, and the two stay like that, until the date came to a close.
