~sad birds still sing~
September 4th
"Alright, alright, alright settle down." Julie sad, trying to quiet her class. This was her 8th grade class, by far the loudest, but also her favorite.
The class listened up to Julie, and stopped their conversation.
"So, who actually did the homework last night?" Julie asked.
Silence.
"Okay, thought so." Julie said. "That's okay, we'll move on. So.. Who knows what sheet music is?" Julie asked.
One of Julie's students, Amara, raised her hand.
"Yes, Amara?"
"Printed Music?" Amara answered.
"Yes, Perfect. And we all know for our annual recital we have to use what?" Julie asked.
"Sheet music!" The class yelled.
"Yes! That's right. Now on the topic of our recital, I have got our performance location this year, so can I get a drumroll please?" Julie asked.
Students stomped the ground and smacked their thighs.
"We're performing at..The L.A General!" Julie said. "I know its not traditional but, me and Principal Davis thought it'd be cool to uplift some people's spirit." She smiled.
"I'm gonna go more in detail in a sec, so any questions so far."
Another one of Julie's students, Jordyn, raised her hand.
"Yes J?" She asked.
"What-"
Jordyn was cut off by a phone ringing. "Who's phone is on?" Julie asked. She turned around and realized it was her own, coming from her back pocket. "Oh- hold that thought Jordyn." Julie said.
She looked to see Carrie calling her. She was confused, since Carrie knew her work hours, and would usually just send a text.
"Carrie, can I call you back? I'm teaching."
"It's kinda important."
"Uhm, one sec."
Julie told her class that she'd be back, and she stepped outside.
"What's up Carrie?"
"Luke's in the hospital." Carrie sighed.
"What? What happened?"
"I don't know, the doctor hasn't let us see him yet, but he was telling me he was feeling really tired today, and he felt like his breathing irregular."
"Well how is he right now?" Julie asked
"He's stable, and conscious as far as I know. Can you come? I think he'd want to see you."
"Look, I'm teaching right now, the earliest I can arrive is in an hour."
"That works, okay you get back to teaching, I'll see you there."
